This is a lose - lose situation. If you don't buy their games on the PC they'll just see it as being the death of PC gaming and release their games only on consoles . If you complain about the DRM I wouldn't put it past them to say get it for console instead. C&C RA3 is coming out on 360 after all.
Sophos Antivirus thinks the Securom activator in Crysis Warhead is a security threat, I had to disable it just so the game could activate its self. I do agree with Sophos though
End users should be able to install the game/software on an unlimited number of computers and keep on adding installations, as hardware changes or system crashes etc. occur. The real item to control is not the number of installations; it is how many of these installations can be used, at the same time. Thus, with ByteShield, the permission to run moves from one PC to another, seamlessly.
Still not good enough, I think EA are missing the point that people still want to be able to come back and play games years later. I’ve got a good mind just to upload cracks here (not the actual game) for games like Spore, Crysis Warhead, Red Alert 3 and any other games that have silly DRM like this.

Apparently EA doesn't want people talking about DRM on their forums anymore or you might get banned/lose your game account: SecuROM as been discussed and discussed so much and it causes arguments in threads. If you want to talk about DRM SecuROM then please use another fansite forum. If there is any change you will be able to read it on the official Spore site. Please do not continue to post theses thread or you account may be at risk of banning which in some cases would mean you would need to buy a new copy to play Spore. Also EA is being sued for the DRM in Spore: Electronic Arts, a leading maker of computer games, defrauds consumers through its "Spore" game, which "completely wipes their hard drive" and replaces it with an undisclosed program that prevents the computer from operating under some circumstances and disrupts hardware operations, a class action claims in Federal Court. The class claims that "Spore," a virtual reality simulation game, contains "a second, undisclosed program" called SecuROM, a "form of Digital Rights Management (DRM) for computer games." Consumers are not warned about the program, which is installed without notice and cannot be uninstalled, even if the uninstall Spore, the complaint states. The secret SecuROM program is "secretly installed to the command and control center of the computer (Ring 0, or the Kernel), and surreptitiously operated, overseeing function and operation on the computer, preventing the computer from operating under certain circumstances and/or disrupting hardware operations," the complaint states. Plaintiffs demand disgorgement of unjust profits and damages for trespass, interference, unfair competition and consumer law violations.
An action lawsuit isn't that much surprising considering someone filed one against Wii because they couldn't hold their controller properly. This IMO was bound to happen. I guess EA can ban anyone they please on their forums for any kind of reason. However this still portrays EA in an even worse light than they were in before. Hmmm wonder what things would have been like if they'd let everyone know about the DRM or not have made it so restrictive in the first place....
If they let people know about the DRM on the box I’m sure it would have affected a few peoples decisions to buy the game. “You can install this game three times then you must buy it again or beg us for another install” printed on the box wouldn’t exactly help to sell the game DRM can work, Xbox Live arcade games are a great example... you can even play them without been connected to the internet, exactly the same for Steam. Ill happily buy stuff like this because I know i can use it and re install it as many times as I want. Although people will sew anyone for anything these days I say good luck, even if they don’t win it shows EA and other companies people won’t stand for stuff like this.
