when i login to the 1.8 demo server the chunks dont seem to load so i get terrible lagg and cant move. I can play single player and on other servers but i dont know why this server. anyone else have this problem? maybe i can tp'd away or something? ive ahd this before once in a cave and i was able to jump into lava but it was not as bad as now. so maybe all i have to do is die?
Sounds like somebody died and spilled a bunch of xp orbs again. I was hoping the 1.8&1.8.1 updates fixed this but I guess not -- hopefully Bukkit has something to inhibit the generation of XP orbs (which are completely useless anyhow)
The fix is sadly, to connect to the server and walk away from your PC for 10 minutes (as your client will lag up lock up your computer). After 10 minutes or so of being in, the XP Orbs will begin degenerating and the lag will go away. Sadly however, this process only happens when the map chunk is loaded, so you need to be logged in for this to happen. Onder and Timiee also had this problem, but instead of solving it they just kept joining and quitting over a weekend and havent been seen since. Awareness of this issue needs to go round to all the players as its happening to quite a few, and I was just assuming it was common knowledge as its all over Notchs Twitter but i guess not everyone reads it
so i join and stay for 10 mins? or will that not work? it is very close to me house and the spawn (just on a river) so what should i do? I can wait till theres some fix or the main server gets updated so its not really a problem
All you need to do is join and enter the laggy area (or spawn there). When your client and PC lock up, go outside, get some fresh air, have a cup of tea or juice, have a bowel movement, then come back in and by then, all the XP Orbs would have despawned (10 minutes) and all the lag gone. Simple.
Bukkit got released this morning, so it should be no more than a day now until all the plugins are updated for the new bukkit and the main server finally gets 1.8.1 However... Notch and co may release 1.8.2 today, which means all that bukkit work.. for nothing
if 1.8.2 comes out today, cant we just use 1.8.1 with bukkit 1.8 on the main server so people that cant get on/havnt been on the demo server yet get a chance to play 1.8 on our server with our players just until bukkit updates again.
Already the plan, but it does mean people still can't join using a native client if Notch does this. Even worse, Jessenic says theres a 1.9 Pre-release making the rounds. We honestly have no idea what the hell Notch is doing, properly going stupid from all money and destroying the multiplayer community who can't produce a working server for his game in time for his constant updates. Either way, regarding 1.8.2 / 1.9 we are going to sit back and wait for the storm to finish before making any decisions on what to do. For now the main server will be updated per the bukkit release that came out today, that will make it 1.8.1.
