    Thank you

@InsaneNutter - I just wanted to say a big thank you for this thread. I recently brought my Acer Ferrari back from the dead with Win 7 and after much fruitless seeking, installed a "best fit" ATI driver to enable the full screen. Obviously, this didn't help with the WE Index and inevitably, today I started getting BSOD!

Some sensible searching brought this thread up as first choice in google and I now have a decent lappy again (despite it being 5years old!).

Also another forum for me to get stuck into.

    Good work, mate. Cheers!

Windows 8 on the Acer Ferrari

Just to update things on this old thread, I installed Windows 8 Beta on my Ferrari 4005, I got everything to work but not the wi-fi, drivers are loaded the orange light is very dim when on and locks everything when on, currently trying to find motherboard drivers or it might be a Win 8 just not finished problem.

I need some assistance if anyone is still around to see this thing. LOL I pulled this machine out of the closet and decided to put WIN7 on it for my son (11 yrs old) for xmas this year. Most everything is working without issues, though I am having problems with the left side USB ports (they only work for power, a usb drive will not work in it) and with the Card Reader. I have tried to used the drivers listed above for the card reader, but during the install I get an error "The processor is not adequate for TIxx21." Then I get the Windows "Program Compatibility Assistant" asking me to "Reinstall using recommended settings" or "This program installed correctly". I did get the drivers to take by going through Device Manager and just searching the folder for the drivers, but if I put any (I have tried SEVERAL) cards in, nothing happnes. My machines is:
    Ferrari 4006wmli
    AMD Truion x64 ML-40 (2.2 GHz)
    2GB PC3200 RAM
    ATI Radeon x700 Mobility

Though I do have to say had NO issues with using my Bluetooth mouse, it worked flawlessly once I synced it. Any assistance with this matter would be GREATLY appreciated!!! Thank you for your time.

Do the 3x USB ports on the right work? if so the left one could be damaged.

Have you installed 32bit Windows 7 or 64bit Windows 7? you will need to install the drivers for which ever version of Windows 7 you installed. The 64bit drivers will not work on a 32bit Windows 7 install, and visa versa.

Finally have you run Windows update and installed the drivers for everything along with all the updates?

Yes, the ones on the right do. And not sure how it would have been damaged, but I suppose it's possible. I have Windows 7 Home Premium x64 on here now. And yes, all updates are done. When I plug it in the left side, it says "Device not recognized."
