while we all loved the new top gear on sunday some people saw a chance to coplian.

the jokes that clarkson made about lorrie drivers murdering prostitutes have inspired over 500 compliants so far. there is a link to the story here:

BBC NEWS | Entertainment | Clarkson joke sparks complaints

is it just me or do you think that its over doing it a bit. i mean if its about the actual joke you have to understand that its like south park. they take the piss out of everyone and people expect it. its the same with clarkson.

the only thing i really see wrong with it was it was before the watershed (9.00PM)

am i making sense or talking rubish

Good find. Read about it in the paper this morning and it mentioned the prostitute joke which made me laugh!

    No.

When I watch South Park I already know that I'm going to be watching something that a lot of people would deem offensive, whereas Top Gear is significantly more viewer friendly and I can guarantee you that not many (if anyone) was expecting him to say what he did. I'm not saying he shouldn't have said it as I found it quite funny, but South Park and Top Gear are worlds apart and I'm not sure how you managed to reach that comparison.

The only reason the situation is gaining any attention is because the BBC is overly politically correct and doesn't like to be shown in any level of negative light - remember when they did a rerun of a slightly older Top Gear episode and one of the presenters was smoking? A couple of complaints where made about that (though I can't imagine why) and they actually censored the smoke in the rerun.

If you're willing to complain about something trivial like that then you probably shouldn't own a TV to begin with.

Agree mostly with the poster above, though I do feel over the years of top gear its pretty much expected to have clarkson to make comments like that, and thats a popular part of the show, its so politically incorrect. People shouldnt be suprised, hes done worse.

Russel Brand and Jonathon Ross' little prank last week was meant to be a "joke" and we all know how that turned out, however, this is very different. I can't see anything wrong with what Clarkson said, I think it was tongue-in-cheek and I think we have come to expect him to say things like that. Tbh, people just love to complain, and some people are so snobby and "clean cut" they can't understand a simple joke. I think we all know that lorry drivers don't murder prostitutes, and if you believe they do, then there is something clearly wrong with you.

No. It's filmed the Wednesday before.

Just watched the clip and it's not particularly funny imo.
But each to his own, complaining about something shown on TV like this is rather pathetic.
I generally like to abide by the rule: Don't like, don't watch.
No need to go moaning and ruining stuff for other people that enjoy it.

As Richard says in the article “Jeremy was just being Jeremy, just being himself and that's what people watch the show for, so why change it?”

People complain almost every week about something that happens on Top Gear, unless you have never watched it before you should know what to expect... If you don’t like it don’t watch it.

I can think of lots more offensive shows on TV than Top Gear.

typical britain! if there was a que to complain about anything itd probably contain half the population! though that would mean less congestion on the m25. anyone wanna start a national complaints department? might get government backing if you say its environmentaly friendly!
