    Try without compatibility mode.

I had tried that first. Then I ran the compatibility check, and Windows seems to think it's XP SP2 compatible, which I usually change to SP3 when programs don't want to run right in Win7.

    @Rick

Sorry if this was answered already. My old Xbox 360 fat (xenon) 20GB is currently flashed to LT2.0+ and runs on latest dashboard 2.0.16537. I am contemplating to upgrade the internal HDD to 320GB (WD3200BPVT) soon.

Q : would i still be able to play my backups after upgrading? Or do i have to re-install system update (2.0.16537) & re-flash the DVD drive to LT2.0+ after upgrading?

I read somewhere saying that system updates are stored in NAND only, not HDD. But others saying that they are stored in both HDD and NAND. Not sure which one is true, so really need your input before going to upgrade the old HDD.

    Thanks!

You might have to reinstall the update, depends if you have internal memory or not. It shouldn't flash the drive.

Can't flash a 100GB scorpio and the 250GB cuts power

As I was saying, before I hit preview post and this absolutely incredible protection system made me type in a captcha to make sure I'm human and erased my whole post....

I have attached a screenshot of what's up. I can't flash a WD1000BEVS using any BIN I can find around the net (yes, I know it has to be for a lower capacity). I tried all I could get my hands on.

I also flashed a WD2500BEVS but that drive is probably bad because it cuts power on access and the xbox reboots itself.
Also tried to flash a Hitachi HTS545032B9A300 using the windows method (hex workshop), but xbox doesn't see it.

    I have a 360 slim, 4GB.

I don't know what else to try. Can someone please help me?

Re-format the usb drive and re-download the bin file. Extract it then rename it. If you still get that error try a different usb drive.

    Highest bin file is 320gb.

Hi, by mistake I renamed HDDSS320.bin to HDDSSBIN.BIN. When used this for flashing with HDDHACKR, I got the message that HDDSS.BIN not found. I removed the USB, renamed the file to HDDSS.BIN and ran HDDHACR again but this time the hard drive didn't' show up. I lost the firmware and have no UNDO.bin. Can you guys help me getting firmware for my WD3200BPVT-22JJ05T dated 13 Sept 2013. If not what other option do I have to revive my hard drive?. It's a brand new HDD and I purchased it two days ago. Please advise.

Right on point. Changed usb drive, then it worked just fine with both of those WD drives. Thank you very much.

I don't know if your motherboard is upset about it or not, but I flashed a WD2500BEVS and left it flashed. It just shows up as a different hard drive (hitachi because of the 250gb HDDSS.bin file), but you can still use the hard drive as you regularly would. The only issue I can see is if you send it in for warranty repair, in which case you'd have to restore its bin.

And are you absolutely sure you flashed the drive in the first place? From your description it doesn't sound like you did. The hard drive not showing up could mean your drive just died, your motherboard option for SATA handling is not set to IDE anymore... Enter your BIOS and see if your drive is detected. It should show up as either WD3200... or a HITACHI something or other.

Try running xplorer 360 320 edition as admin.
If it doesn't show up then format the drive in system settings>storage> 320gb drive>press Y> then enter the console serial number

Thanks for the reply. Actually I didn't try rebooting the PC and running the HDDHACKR again. When I did it, bios recognized my WD drive and I realized that it was not corrupted so I ran with correct Bin file names and completed flashing drive successfully. I got undo.bin also and can use the new hitachi drive in my xbox.

The whole tutorial was well written and nicely explained however; I don't get one point. If there is only one sata cable on the my computer's motherboard that is connected to my current Hard drive which has Windows 7 installed, how would I connect the new flashed XBOX hard drive with the computer so the Xbox 360 explorer can be executed in windows mode to restore partition 2.

I have Xbox 360 and there was no hdd installed previously. Do I still need to download Hoffman's partition 2 and restore on my XBOX drive? I was reading somewhere that without restoring partition 2, I can't play games from CDs.
I would appreciate if someone elaborates.

If you only have 1 sata port. A sata to usb cable, even an enclosure should work or a xbox 360 transfer cable.
If you don't play original xbox games like halo, splinter cell, ect. Then you don't need partition 2.

I tried running as admin, it did not show up so i formatted the drive in the xbox 360, it still does not read the drive, I bought it from best buy 2 days ago so i know its not bad, do i need to re-run hddhackr and re flash? the drive is showing up in disk management but im still getting the error "COULD NOT FIND A FATX DRIVE" Ive tried doing the compatibility pack, and turning and leaving off UAC, All i want to do is to be able to play xbox 360 with that drive internally, i have nothing i need to transfer over. I just wanted it to work.

Usually it works with no problems. You won't need explorer 360 if you have nothing to transfer.

if i have nothing to transfer will it boot to that drive now then? If i install it in a 360 it will boot up?

I have a 360 slim and it sees it as a storage drive but i want to use it as an internal drive.

I want to be able to boot up the 360 with that drive.
