I figured it would run better off a DVD. I tried a CD first, since many on here were claiming they couldn't get the demo to work, so I didn't wanna start ruining all of my DVDs. :P

It would appear Microsoft has gotten wise to us. When I burned the disk yesterday, The demo came up and it worked fine. Now....When I pop the disk in, It still appears in my demo`s, But when I click "play game" a banner comes up that says..."can`t launch".... I`m guessing it no longer works, Bummer

I am still having problems burning it after 3 discs on a Mac. From what I understand of this post, first you have to:

    1) extract the content folder, mine looks the same as the picture of the first page
    2) use a DVD burner ISO function to burn a Data Disc (Is Extended Architecture or XA Needed)
    3) Standard write speed? Best?

Also, in the torrent file (which I am downloading to be proactive) the last file in content is called re5_demo and is 483,450 bytes is size, my downloaded one on is slightly smaller, at 472,440. I don't see how this could matter, given how different OS cause files to take up different amounts of space.

Do it have to be named re5_demo?

    Anything I may be forgetting?

    Solution found!

and it was something simple of course. Turns out some burners are not set to use DVD's automatically even if you select wanting to burn a DVD... That's all I was doing wrong.

Everyone who is still have trouble, make sure DVD media is selected!

that's like my airport station that can be detected by my wireless card even if the station isn't plugged in...

HOT TIP FOR ANYONE STILL HAVING PROBLEMS:

The demo wasn't showing up in my Games Library, and I couldn't figure out why. The Mixed Media disc was recognised, but the demo would not appear (I even downloaded another demo from Live so it would create a "Demos and Trial Games" category - no joy). I discovered the problem when I put the CD-R back into my computer: the burning program I'd used (Toast) had NAMED the CD "Content", instead of creating that folder on the disc. You need the "Content" folder at the top level of the disc, or it won't work, even though all the files are present. Peculiar problem, just thought it might be worth sharing. It was driving me crazy!

Yeah just burn the "content" folder and all to the disk. So if you're on a Windows, computer it should read: D:\Content\ (stuff)

For some reason when i put in the disc, it would show the name of the demo but whenever i tried to launch it, it said I couldn't. Any ideas on how to fix that?

I downloaded the file and burned it....but it's not appearing on my 360.

Am I doing something wrong? I didn't make a Japanese account because windows live is having problems.

Do I need a Japanese Gold account to play the re5 demo?

It says Mixed Media.....but nothing appears in demo area or games library or anywhere else.

    Someone help please! :(

You don't need a Japanese account to play. Mine also says "mixed media" but it appears in the demo section with Japanese characters. Not sure what else you can do, but try a different brand of CD/DVD media...and disconnect from Live. Other than that, not sure. *-)

I heard rumours on the internet that if your connected to live it will now disable the demo. I'd honestly suggest to anyone to play this offline or with a non-live gamertag.

I'm having immense trouble getting it to work, I downloaded the .rar and extracted it, saved it to a DVD+R and a CD-R seperately and the CD-R won't even pick it up and the DVD+R realises its a mixed media, just no show a demo.

    Any ideas?

Sign out of live? Apparently if you signed in it now shows the demo as corrupted as well as not been able to launch it.

Also check the folder structure on the DVD.

Hi, I have also tried to download and play the re5 demo. I only have one problem. I burned the content folder onto a DVD using the burning software that came with my computer (Toshiba Disk Creator) and Nero 9 which I got today. The folder structure appears exactly the same was as it does in the screenshot and the game appears in the right place. When I try to play it, my XBOX 360 says it cannot load the game. It might be because my disc reads as mixed data disk has anything to do with that but I am not sure. Please help! I would love to try this awesome game!!
