Unfortunatelythere were no Xbox 360 hard drives able in stores just after Christmas and myson needs one to play his new game. He has an Xbox 360 4GB console. I was toldthat I could use a Western Digital Element 1 TB external hard drive as theywere both Microsoft products. I bought this and it didn’t work, I was told Iwould have to format it or something like that, then I saw this link but I seethe biggest it does is 500 GB, please advise whether and how to do it for 1 TB,I am desperate as I’ve paid for the 1 TBand can’t afford to buy anything else for a long time. Thanks for yourassistance.

You will also need to remove the drive from the enclosure.

Does that mean that you can't run it as an external hard drive through the usb cable?

You could but then only 32gb would be usable.
