Had a computer crash and now one of the user Windows Live Mail accounts won't open. Other users are OK, but this one notes that the users Mail.MessageStore file is being used by another program, like a virus scan. There are no other programs running. I've tried a few suggestions I've found online, but nothing seems to work. Windows tells me I should go to Programs in the control panel, click on Windows Live Mail and select repair when it comes up. Problem is, there is no repair option, and it states there are problems with Windows Essentials and I should uninstall and reinstall from Microsoft site, explore.live.com, that no longer offers support or downloads.

Here's my question... I downloaded the Windows Live Essentials from the Digiex site, but before I try to run the setup, was wondering if re-installing will overwrite emails, contacts, or any calendar information presently in the user profiles?

I just wants to make sure I don't screw things up for anybody while trying to fix something for someone else. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It depends on how the installer works. Generally speaking, you should be able to run a repair with the installation program downloaded; it'll detect that it's already installed and offer to repair the problem, especially if the installation program is in MSI format.
