So, before I go and get a flashcart, how exactly does this work? Do I just put it on the cart, load it up, and select the events for the gba game I have in the ds?

Yeah, that's basically it. It's a really quick and straightforward process.
If you're still looking for a particular flashcart, you can get a new R4 extremely cheap on newegg.com

Alright cool, thank you. Is this the one you were talking about? There are so many different ones on the newegg store https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA4RE7DT7598

Well I didn't have any particular R4 in mind, they'll all work and do the job on an old NDS with the GBA slot.

The one you linked just supports every NDS model from the original up to the 3DS, so it's good if you want to play HeartGold or something on your 3DS and don't want to pay $60 for the official cart.

I've gotten this on my flashcart, and am able to have it say that it's put the aurora ticket onto my firered game, but there's nothing in my game. Is there an extra step that I'm messing up?

Did you go upstairs in the pokemon center? That is where you collect the ticket. Another thing to consider is your Firered might be a fake. A way to test if it is, try to migrate from it to a gen 4 game. To my knowledge, no fake cartridges are able to migrate. If you confirm those things aren't the issue, you may have used the wrong language or selected the Emerald version rather than the FRLG version.

Can someone please help me with this?

I've downloaded the file and put it on my EZFLASH IV Card thinking it would recognise the file and I could easily download the events into my gba Pokemon games but no luck :( why is it a .nds file if its for gba games?? . This method worked for the 10th anniversary event rom and aurora ticket.

    Can someone help please :(

It's an Nintendo DS homebrew application, you need a DS / DS Lite with a DS flashcard to make use of this.

The 10th ANNIV and Aura Ticket are official Nintendo distributions designed to work on the GBA.

Bugger. Is there a tutorial on how to do this?? I should have all the items necessary. 2 Nintendo Ds/Lites, a blank flash card but dont know how it works. It just has "menu?" when I try to use it. it has r4iSDHC.com on the back of it if that helps for a particular homebrew software.

Your flashcard should have a Micro SD card inside it. You simply copy the NDS file on to the Micro SD card and load it from your flashcard menu. Usually if you make folders on the SD card these will be reflected on the flash card its self.

Just found out the r4 card I have is fake..if they can even be called fake in the first place lol. Basically its dodgy and won't work. Can you recommend one at all? Preferably one on a website that ships internationally, I'm in Australia. Also do SDHC cards work? or does it have to be sd only?

Any R4 you buy today is a clone of the original, however some of them do actually improve upon it quite significantly. If yours doesn't work due to a "timebomb" you can just put the date on your DS back a few years and see if it works then.

The one i recommend is the R4i Gold 3DS, it works on all DS / 3DS consoles, with all games, has no time bomb and is reasonably priced at $20.

SDHC cards work and are recommended due to them been faster if you have a good card.

What date do you think I should set it to? Also whats the best software/kernel for the r4 card to download?

You can try the RetroGameFan Firmware packs, this does contain some firmware with the time bomb removed, however hard to say if it will work on your card.

As for a date to try, if your card has like 2015 on it or anything a date range in that year would be a good place to start.
