This is a work in progress Pokemon Crystal Save created by a long term friend of Digiex's as a gift to the community, the save contains eggs that have been legitimately shiny hunted.

The idea behind the save is you can trade the desired eggs to your own personal save to hatch, so you have a shiny where you are the Pokemon's OT (original trainer).

    Current Shiny Eggs:

    Box 01: Squirtle, Charmander
    Box 02:
    Box 03:
    Box 04:
    Abra, Ponyta
    Box 05: Magnemite (2x), Voltorb
    Box 06: Voltorb, Koffing, Staryu
Box 07: Staryu, Mr. Mime, Scyther, Smoochum, Elekid, Magby, Pinsir, Tauros, Magikarp (2x), Lapras, Ditto (Wild Catch), Eevee (x4), Omanyte (2x), Kabuto,
Box 08: Kabuto, Aerodactyl, Snorlax, Totodile
    Box 09: Cleffa
    Box 10: Sudowoodo, Eevee (x2)
    Box 11: Scyther
Box 12: Corsola, Smoochum, Elekid, Magby
    Box 13: Miltank
    Box 14: Snorlax, Voltorb

Purple are the current obtained eggs, Orange is obtained, however will need to be evolved once hatched, Black = won't be in this save, see this post for info.

As you can imagine its a quite tedious process legitimately hunting these Pokemon on Gen 2, even using the speed up function on an emulator. However the save is off to an excellent start so far I'm sure you will agree.

This save will be updated once more Pokemon are hatched.

I changed my mind and decided to comment.

I chatted back in 2013 - 2014~ with my old friend "Big Mike" about doing this using Pokémon Stadium 2. Unfortunately, I don't have a copy of that game, nor do I have the battling skills to beat it, so I'm using an emulator for the speed-up option.

I'm not looking for help or "contributions", I'm not worried about the end goal, it's the "process" for me. I started this in 2023, I don't remember why, and then stopped working on it until recently. I don't play Pokémon, or really video games in general, as a hobby. I played Crystal about up to the daycare, got the shiny Odd Egg Cleffa, and hatched a few of them. Cleffa may have the wrong met location, as I converted my party monsters and the 2023 shinnies back into eggs as an afterthought.

I was talking about sharing it with my friend, and it felt like a waste to go through all of this hassle, only to not share it with more people who might enjoy it. Back in 2013, when I *finally* uploaded my Colosseum save for the bonus disk thread, I thought maybe 10~ people would ever use it. Last I heard, Nutter told me it had been downloaded 8,500 times. So I'm sure there are old-school Pokémon players who will enjoy this, or people who might even import them to HOME using the virtual console, who knows.

Abra is a random encounter shiny I found in 2014, on my old Silver cart. I'm going to replace it, as I found a shiny Rattata and Drowzee last night, and decided to keep them to myself. Inserting random shinnies I found into the save feels like it defeats the purpose of people being able to hatch the eggs to have their own trainer info.

Voltorb 3 and Snorlax 2 were bonus eggs, as was Kabuto (Kabutops) when I initially bred for a shiny Kabuto on the VC in 2017.

    • Abra: 2014
    • Kabuto 1 and 2: 2017
    • Ditto: 2023
    • Totodile: 2023
    • Charmander: 2023
    • Squirtle: 2023
    • Ponyta: 2023
    • Magnemite 1 and 2: 2023
    • Cleffa (Clefable): 2023
    • Koffing (Weezing): 2023
    • Tauros: 2023
    • Aerodactyl: 2023
    • Sudowoodo: 2023
    • Lapras: 2025
    • Magikarp 1 and 2: 2025
    • Staryu 1 and 2: 2025
    • Mr. Mime: 2025
    • Scyther 1 and 2: 2025
    • Magby 1 and 2: 2025
    • Smoochum 1 and 2: 2025
    • Corsola: 2025
    • Pinsir: 2025
    • Elekid 1 and 2: 2025
My original "process" was "I'm going to shiny hunt stuff I think looks cool or favorites."

So Feraligatr, Charzard, Rapidash, Weezing, etc.

And when I came back to it, I decided to (mostly) pick a box and try to fill it out. I'm also trying to (mostly) do full evolution families at once, although some take FOREVER. I think it took 5~ hours for both Elekid .I'm a book reviewer and a wiki editor, so I'm just doing this to pass the time while listening to stuff, so as I said before, it's about the process, not the destination. I brought this up to say, if there's a specific monster you want, you can put in a request and *if I see it*, I can make it my next hunt. I did that for InsaneNutter, after I got my second Scyther, and I got the Corsola for him.

I've been getting a ton of shinnies in quick succession due to being unable to edit my wikis due to a server migration. So I wouldn't suggest getting excited for continued daily updates.

Glad you decided to post in his thread, its certainly something you should take credit for.

I plan to hatch the Corsola and import that in to Home as mentioned. It will be nice to have a shiny from you in my collection after working on the Gen 3 event save for so long together. Who could have predicted how big that would eventually grow?
(Also I never realised you'd registered on Digiex as far back as 2012, just noticed the date on your profile!)

You've certainly managed to obtain a lot of shinies in a very short amount of time, I do look forward to seeing this save slowly grow over time. It will certainly be one of the more unique Gen 2 saves on the internet.

I found Digiex back in 2011. I was looking into the Colosseum bonus disks at the time, but life was hectic back then. So when I said I "*finally* uploaded my Colosseum save for the bonus disk", I mean *finally*, cause it had been on the back of my mind for 2~ years by that point. I tend not to give up on stuff easily, I simply take breaks.

Hence why I'm back to this shiny living Dex idea after 11~ years. ;)

Getting you a shiny Corsola was the least I could do as thanks. You set up the Mystery Dungeon Franchise Wiki on our Cloudways server, and then made that blank wiki so I could take my other wikis independent.

I chose Digiex to host this file as a thanks directed towards you. I hope this save will ultimately bring your site traffic, and thus, ad revenue. I personally despise ads, and use an ad blocker, and I don't have the funds to donate to make up for it. So I hope this save, and the Colosseum save will offset that, as a thank you for the work you do.

Happy to help like minded people where I can, we all didn't have the knowledge we do today at some point in our lives.

I hate adverts too so would never hold it against anyone blocking them, sadly a necessary evil. We're lucky enough to break even and keep the content / information we're passionate about accessible to all.

I guess it's not fair to make Professor Oak do all of the work. The harvest has been bountiful the last couple of days. And by that, I mean, I now have a level 95 Eevee, and every fossil in these games shiny.

Also, new format: Black circle = you're on your own. I'll be hunting both of the 2 shiny Unown forms for my own personal collection, as well as the legendaries, and 2 Porygon. Apparently you can't breed Porygon in these games, so I have to do it the hard way.

If soft resetting for these, or random encountering them is too much, there is another way. On Project Pokémon forums (purple heart), theSLAYER wrote a guide on how to use the coin case in the English GS to modify Pokémon. You can make any monster shiny by changing its stats, change its species, and so on. It's how I originally got the Celebi for my living dex.

You could always use that glitch to change the DVs of Pokémon, and clone others such as Porygon, if you get a single shiny. Or if you find a random shiny you don't like, such as the Rattata and Abra I found, I *could theoretically* simply change their species. But I mean, why bother, when you can just catch a Pidgey and turn it into a shiny Articuno, and change its name?

As I said previously, for me, it's about the process. I find the coin case glitch tedious and boring, and even though many of these shinnies have the same IVs, such as both Snorlax, I still (personally) find it rewarding and awesome to have 2 legit shiny Snorlax, even if they're clones of each other internally.

I started soft reset shiny hunting in 2023~, when I got my Squirtle in Fire Red, and then paused at Magikarp, as I always wanted a shiny Magicrap from the guy who sells you one. I've since shiny hunted Treecko, Groudon, Rayquaza, and Totodile (Soul Silver).

If you change your perspective, and look at it like this, soft resetting becums much more bearable. At least to me. Getting a shiny isn't a matter of if, it's a matter of when, so long as you keep at it. If you're watching a movie, or listening to a podcast or something, get out ye-olde platform, and soft reset in the background while you're doing something mindless. Every soft reset is "progress" towards that inevitable shiny. Sooner or later, it'll shiny, it's simply a matter of persistence.

I got Rayquaza in a few hours, but I started Groudon in 2023, got really impatient, and then back back to it earlier this year and simply resigned myself to soft reset for an hour or two, every couple of days, or every day, and before I knew it, I had a shiny Groudon, and the fire in me to go for others I've always wanted.

Somebody out there has made a mod/patch for RBY, so you can see if a "gen 1" monster is shiny, which should make soft resetting in those games much more bearable as well. In the comments, they also linked to some test saves, to make sure your patched game is functional.

I can't get you a shiny Articuno with your OT, or Mewtwo, Mew, Celebi, etc. But you have 3 routes, the way I see it.

    • PCNY Events
    • Soft reset, as I will.
    • Coin Case glitch, as I've done.

I can share my Silver living dex save file, with the coin case glitch set up, if you want it. But I can't remember what you need to rename boxes 8 and 9 to, to use it. And you have to walk out of the (second town) Pokémon center, stand in front of a bush, and listen to a Bellsprout cry to make it work. It sounds like some 1990s playground rumor, but it's legit.
