Whilst feeling quite annoyed at the way Flickr doesn't support OpenSearch, I decided to create a workaround so that when I'm searching for pictures on Flickr it takes me as little time as Google or Wikipedia, rather than having to pull up the site and type it in there, which takes all of 5 seconds longer 
To add this functionality to your own browser, visit *updated with support for more sites: link in post below* this simulates a Flickr that does have the search, and allows you to add Flickr search in the normal manner. Hope this helps anyone else who uses flickr frequently, also if anyone wants me to add any more sites which are missing OpenSearch support I'll be happy to.
P.S. This relies on mvinetwork only for the initial setup, once thats occured your browser only links to flickr and mvinetwork is not involved in any way.
