The official Digiex Unreal Tournament 2004 Server, we would like you to think of it as your server! Mapvote is enabled so you can vote for your favourite game type or map anytime, we have tried to keep the server as original as possible to keep downloads to the minimum. However we do have a few map remakes from UT99 and some awesome VCTF levels which you might have to download, Anything you do have to download will be very fast though as all content is hosted on a redirect server. Epic turned the UT 2004 master server off in early 2023, however the Digiex server will announce itself to the OpenSpy community run server list. You can easily update your game to make use of the OpenSpy UT 2004 server list, or simply join via the IP address below. New Unreal Tournament 2004 Server I have finished setting up a new UT 2004 server for us, this is a fresh install on a new server. This server is only hosting our UT server and nothing else so hopefully everything should be working great now. Mapvote is enabled so you can vote for any map/game mode just like on the old server. If you have any problems or notice any bugs please do let us know, suggestions for new VCTF maps are also welcome!
Whats the currently plan with this? Shall we test it and make sure its a suitable replacement and report back? At which point do we switch servers? Cheers
I’m thinking we test it for the next week, then before the end of the month we need to agree if it’s a suitable replacement or not. If everything is fine and the people currently contributing to the cost of the current UT server have no problems I see no reason why we can’t move it over sooner. I believe we would have to renew the contract for the box the UT server is currently hosted on at the end of the month anyway? So if we’re going to move servers this month is the time to do it. We had 4-5 people in earlier and everything was fine, I’m hoping we can get 12+ people in like we used to have. I’m getting pings of around 30-50ms which is as good as I get to the jolt UK servers.
I'm always willing to help out with UT servers for obvious reasons. See you on there tomorrow sometime hopefully. I'll also see if I can get some UT friends to join me too.
Hi, I'm on this site primarily because I use the digex server almost exclusively performance seems to be just fine, and in the course of the day we get a fair amount of players on, quite a few from Germany. I would like to make a few little suggestions though, maybe suggest a couple of vctf maps and also I belive you might want to consider some sort of anti cheat server code, some of the players seem to be *very* good indeed if you know what I mean. Maps I would like to see added are: AtomicSands 2004 Chaos Island HorsellCommon 2k4v2 RedPlanet (I have the files if you need them) I'd be interested in what you think, I also see you're running two servers, is one going to go? Because they look to be basically mirrors of each other.
Hey, we are always on the lookout for new map suggestions, especially VCTF maps, thanks! I managed to find VCTF-AtomicSands2004][, but didn’t have any luck with the others. Would you be able to attach them in a post here or email them to my username @ Digiex.net? AtomicSands is quite a nice map, I will add it to the server along with the others if you can get a copy to me. The 91.186.11.162 server was supposed to go last October however our old host have yet to take the box offline, we have just left the server running as its costing us nothing to do so. The 77.74.197.126 server is the replacement and will become the main UT 2004 server once this happens, it’s in the same datacentre so no one should notice any difference.
Something I've noticed that is a bit annoying. The servers mainly used for instagib vctf which brings in the regular players, then today some muppet switched it to an onslaught map. Nothing wrong with that at face value, but... its a 21+ meg download, it's taken me about 40 mins to d/load 62% so far (and I'm on 20meg cable) The players? all evaporated, including the one who picked the onslaught map to begin with GRRRRRR So now I'm having to let the thing load up just so I can attempt to switch it back to something that players will use. /end rant
What map did you have to download? I don’t think we have any custom onslaught maps as far as I can remember, it will have been a slow download as the map won’t be on our redirect server. We let people vote for any game mode they like as we sometimes like a change, however 99% of the time I check the server its either on VCTF of VCTF Instagib which I know brings the people in. I guess more than one person must have voted for it to switch game mode? Unless no one else bothered voting and it happened at the last second.
it was very slow, I forget the name, began with an O the voting thing had a choice of 2 maps, it just happened to pick the onslaught one, no big deal really, just took a long time to get back on to get the mode back to something that people would play.
Can you make it so the teams balance (AutoPlayerBalance) because for some reason 3/4 of the players default to Red and you have to be a pain and ask people to switch and it spoils a lot of fun when there's you and 4 bots on Blue vs 5 uber Red players and you can't do anything about it.

ahh nice one, could I also ask for a kick if idle, like say after 3 mins or so, because now we get 'real' players join but some dont do anything, then no more can join because they're on the server but not actually doing anything lol so you have 4 real players on your team but you don't because some are idle. Yes I know I'm a pain but these things only come to light once other options get enabled, overall though it's making the experience better, the inclusion of the new maps will help too, I don't know if player stats are up recently or not.
Just curious, are there stats running (even internal) I'd be curious to see if say over the last month or so, if player usage has increased.
At the moment were not logging stats of any kind, we just have the script on Digiex that connect to the server and retrieves the player count along with other information We never imagined the server would become as popular as it has, yesterday the main server was full and the test server had about 8 people in it. Ill have a look about on unreal admin and see if there’s a script to log stats, if you know of one your more than welcome to suggest it. Also I’ve not forgot the maps you sent me, Just not had time this week to test and upload them. I’ll get them on the server asap

UT3 was a great disappointment for me thankfully there's still a strong UT2004 playerbase/serverbase out there, I see the servers are renamed with "old" too, presumably at some point the old ones going to be gone. The Horselcommon map is the wrong one, my mistake :/ I sent you two, the right file is the one called. 'VCTF-WGS-Horsellcommon'
