Well...this is how I did it:
-I've kept the red wire and the black one near him connected to the xbox for the 5v power
-I've cutted the yellow cable and the black one near it and linked them to a 12v2a power adapter (+ for yellow, - for black) and it booted fine :)

My laptop is already running WD5000BEVT, so at least that'll be easy.
But now I have to go buy ANOTHER one because my 250gb MS Official drive is nearly full again.
I've gone from 20gb -> 60gb -> 120gb -> 250gb... so when will the madness end? Because the free GwG are killing me.

And at some point I'll have to go upgrade my Xbone too.

I made an error while attempting this hack. I formatted the WD drive (exfat, drive letter, active parition from Disk Management) within my Windows 7 environment. Can I still proceed or do I need to wipe the drive?

I have not even tried the hddhackr yet. Will report back if I have any problems.

    I also have a WD Blue 500LPVX

I am happy to report that my WD5000LPVX with a manufacture date of July 2014 was successfully hacked. I do not recall reading this part from the first page, I had to format the drive and provide the serial number of my console. After this step, it showed 460Gigs! I am currently using the transfer cable to move my data/saves from my hard drive to my new 500 Gig HDD :) Special thanks to both Rick and InsaneNutter! Awesome guide! I would be happy to share my undo.bin with the group to help the community.

EDIT: I swapped out and actually used that drive, I connected to Xbox Live had to download an update, it was a large one! However, everything seems to be just fine. Thanks again!

    five questions...

    1) Does anyone know if the WD5000BPKX will work?? (some one asked this earlier... just looking for a 100% confirmation before I order one)

    2) The latest version of HddHackr I see is v1.40 and was updated 03-03-2013.... does this version support modding any of the 500GB hard drives??

    3) Also, I'd like to have the most recent backwards compatibility partition as I assume this supports the most games (for original xbox games). Can anyone direct me where to download that as well?

    4) I saw this asked in another forum several years ago, but didn't see an answer. Would it be possible to take a 1TB hard drive and then mod it with two 500GB partitions so that when connected the 360 would see two 500GB HDDs for storage??? (If yes, how about a 2TB drive with 4x 500GB etc, etc) I'm assuming won't work. ;)

    5) Finally... I know using a 500GB drive will net me about 480GB of space... if I used a larger drive like a 600GB... would that push my available space to say 500GB? (I'm guessing no again here)

    Thank you. :)

I already setup my new drive (WD 500G) with my Xbox 360 Fat model. My new drive is currently in use and its great! If I wanted to add backwards compatibility partition using the tutorials featured on these forums, is that still possible even though I have already setup the drive? Thank you!

Hello Just a quick question before I go out and buy a WD HDD -- My pc's motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-G41MT-S2PT and after searching online there is no option to change the SATA OPERATION MODE to diable AHCI --- Will I still be able to complete this or is it out of the question???

    Thanks in advance

    Yes.
Is there an option for sata mode? You might need a bios update.

Thank you!! Hard drive ordered. :)

Final question I promise, ha... can I attach a large (320GB) USB hard drive and partition like ten 32GB partitions for use??... essentially making the xbox think I have 10 usb thumb drives attached.

Just looking for any way to add more storage for DLC or free Games for Gold without needing to swap out hard drives all the time... it's already a pain with a 250GB drive and two 320GB drives.

    Thank you again. :)

Thanks to the link Rick provided... I've placed a direct link for the final backwards compatibility update of November 2007 below (unless there's a newer one, but everything I can find points to this being the final update)....

Nope, you can have a max of 2x external drives with 32gb on each.

The Xbox doesn't support partitioned drives and will not recognise any more than two drives connected at a time. So at this time the most you storage space you can have is 564gb on a non modified console.

I have a problem, after creating the 500GB hard drive (WD5000LPVT) when I pass the contents of the old hard drive, my xbox restarts = /

When i creating disk the hddhackr gave me error "reding sector 16 failed" and I could solve it with the tutorial Harcroft.

Will it be that the error is 16-22 modified sectors?

sorry for my bad english =(
