if you have issues with the drive undo it then rename the undo.bin file to undo.old.bin and reflash the drive

^Yep, I kept the undo from my first flash around, naming it wdcundo.bin. Went back into the laptop, "unflashed" and then reflashed, and everything seems to be working now...currently copying files via USB (although I am making a backup image on my laptop just to be safe). Thanks again!

you can use a transfer cable(ms or generic from ebay) or sata cable or sata to usb.you use xplorer360 250gb with 250gb drives only xplorer360 with only 20gb drives and to copy the partition 2 only, refer back to first page for more info.

Soon ill be performing this hdd swap but i ran into.. an upgrade?

I couldn't find any store that had 350gb WD blue.
But i do have a 350gb WD black 7200rpm at home.
I know there is no compatibility issues, but wondering if there would be a speed gain for 7200rpm?

I play bad company 2 online and people loading the maps from hard drives obviously load faster then people from the disc.

So by having a 7200rpm hdd, would i load that much faster:O

pretty wicked if it lets me have that gain.

    @Rick550,

Are You Sure 100% that after renaming the file Undo.Bin
    to Undofirstdrive.Bin
    is going to work?
I have to buy , so, if it won't work than all my money will be a waste,
You Sure about this na it will work?

    Thanks, :D

Sounds like it was a chipset comparability issue with your computer, glad you have it flashed in the end. Also be sure to run Xplorer 360 with admin rights when restoring the partition. I remember that been someone else's problem.

Nope sadly not at this time anyway, you can use it in your Jtag with no problems, however the drive is no good for use in a retail console.

I remember someone trying this and i believe there was no real noticeable difference.

I have not seen Hddhackr supporting the WD Caviar series of drives, so I would not buy that drive.

As of version 1.30, Hddhackr now works with all sizes and versions of the Western Digital Scorpio Series, with that in mind buy a drive from the Scorpio Series and you should be fine.

Yes that drive will work fine, if you have any problems it will be the sata chipset / configuration in the computer you use.

It will show up as a 250gb drive, about 228gb of space will be usable.

If Microsoft ever release a 320gb drive you will be able to flash the 320gb security sector and make use of the extra space.

Well thats fine ill try the 7200rpm and get back to this thread.
Test run on black ops maps and bc2.
    I'll clock em.

Also, there is no official 250gb hard drive for the phat xbox 360.
But as long as there is a 250gb hard drive on the market, it shouldn't be a problem?

The 250gb drive has been available since 2009 with some original Xbox 360's, such as the one in the Modern Warfare 2 bundle. You could later buy it separate too. No need to worry at all, 250gb 360's have been around long before the Slim and are no problem at all.

picture of me opening the hard drive enclosure case

alright, so i got the times for loading and installing bad company 2.

*Now I want to install the new hdd in the xbox slim hdd case, but i need to remove the old hdd, I cant find any tutorials anywhere on how to do this. Is it possible to remove the old hdd from the slim hdd enclosure?*

YES it is possible, i just pried it open.

Slid a pocket knife between the two parts and separated them[IMG]

Loading maps faster in bc2 gives you an edge, since once the map is loaded you jump in and start capping. For black ops, you gotta wait on everybody anyway.

    5200rpm
    -Install time: 7:37
-Loading Heavy Metal (biggest map) : 29-30sec
-Loading Laguna Presa (smallest map) : 20-21sec
    7200rpm
    -Install time: 7:27
    -Loading Heavy Metal : 27-28sec
    -Loading Laguna Presa : 18-19sec.

Nothing that notable of a difference, 2 seconds faster load time on maps, does give you that extra edge to run to certain vehicles. Would I say is it worth fetching a 7200rpm instead of 5200rpm. Depends on the price, if its like a 5$ difference, sure, anymore, no.

Using this method of connecting the xbox hdd to pc, is there a way to browse it and add music into the xbl music folder? My xbox can connect to pc via wifi but for some reason wont find any songs.....

So, I tried flashing my 320GB Scorpio Blue. Didn't seem to work.
I followed all the steps to the tee but had a similar issue as some other people here.
When hddhackr successfully finished flashing the drive, I never got the option to create partitions. I decided to stick the drive into my xbox to see if it would work. It was not recognized.
I then proceeded to put the drive back into my computer and manually create the partitions using hddhackr. The xbox still didn't recognize the drive.
Tomorrow, I'll try flashing it with another computer I've got downstairs. I'll report back on how that goes.
And just to be more specific. The current motherboard chipset that I tried flashing with was an EVGA X58. The motherboard I'm gonna try using tomorrow is an older Gigabyte running an Athlon 64.

I got an issue...I hacked the 250GB HDD...told me it should work...I put the hard drive in, and I got the E69 error...

tried to flash it again, it told me "hard drive firmware already matches hddss.bin data and should work in your xbox 360!"

    still E69...any ideas?

Use the Undo.bin to restore the drive back to stock then flash again from step one
