Halo 3 ODST leaks to the internet 20 days before release

It appears the French have done it again, back in 2004 a French copy of Halo 2 for the original Xbox found its way on to the internet several weeks before it was available to buy in the shops.

Last night a French copy of Halo 3 ODST was uploaded to the internet, presumably the source of this leak was one of the shops that sold around 100 copies early last week.

ODST has 47 achievements totalling 1000 gamer score, the leaked disc contains the Campaign, Firefight and Theatre modes, its most likely that the second ODST disc will leak shortly.

But why is it only Halo? The first time I ever heard of a game releasing early was Doom 3 back in 2004. Till then I had never heard of such a thing happening in the industry.

Its not just Halo games have always leaked, Gears of War 2 leaked 3 weeks before release last year, Gears of War 1 leaked a week or so before release, Half Life for the Dreamcast was never officially released yet that found it was to the internet.

Its happened with a few other games. Though they are few and far between. I picked up a copy of Final Fantasy X a week + before release but that was in a store surprisingly enough, though it wasn't in any other store.

That trailer was cool. Better than the live action ones that came out for halo 3. I don't really see the point in people downloading the leaked version. Its in another language and we only have to wait 16 days for the actual release, even I can wait that long

They download it to test out the new Firefight mode. Then they quickly cancel their preorder or pray that the campaign is miles better (least it's 4 player co-op)!
