A simple and effective way to remove the watermark is to download the Watermark Removal Script which automates the entire process for you.

The previous watermark remover had some problems on x64 systems, I have updated the post with the remover by deepxw which works perfectly on 64bit systems too.

You can download this Windows 7 (7100 - RC) Desktop Watermark Remover

Save it to your desktop, unzip, choose either the 32 or 64bit version depending on which you installed then right click and select run as administrator.

The script will then go through the process of removing the watermark, the entire process will take a minute or two.

After its finished re start your computer and the watermark will be gone.

    After:

This script should work perfectly on other RC builds too.

So you placed it on the desktop, then right clicked it and ran as admin right?

Just tried it on the 32-bit version of Windows 7 RC build 7100.

    Works perfectly.

    Thanks.

No, this is not a "crack" to Windows 7. This is only a watermark remover.

I read at Compatibility Mode - Windows 7 Forums that using this patch will cause Compatibility Mode to no longer work properly or at all. I just installed Windows 7 today and haven't used this patch. Can anyone confirm this to be true or not? *-)

I didn't quite use this one, I used the one that was posted before this one. I assume it would be the exact same. Compatibility mode still works 100%. If it didn't I wouldn't of been able to get the screen shot of Sonic R.:P

It hasn’t caused any problems for me either on the 64bit RC build.

I'm also using the 64 bit RC, and it didn't cause me any noticeable problems either after applying the patch. I have a lot of programs/utilities that are still Vista only, so..better safe than sorry. :P

I've not noticed any problems either.

Also I can confirm that this watermark remover does work on build 7127 as well. (View Picture Below)

Update: Also I can confirm that this watermark remover does work on build 7201 as well. (View Picture Below)

There is one program that won't work in compatibility mode. Zone Alarm, although I think that it still wouldn't work even if I didn't remove the watermark.

    Hi,
if this forum is still alive, I wanna thank you initially.....it works just fine......does the watermark (This Copy Of Windows Is Not Genuine) won't appear anymore in the future after installation of updates?

You should not even be using a build of Windows 7 that was watermarked like this. Windows 7 was released two and a half years ago.
