    Week 3

    Broaderband

The EU announced this week that they want all of Europe to have access to high speed broadband by 2010. Current statistics show that only around 36% of households in the EU have access to broadband, and this, the EU say, is not good enough.
"High-speed internet is the passport to the Information Society and an essential condition for economic growth," said Viviane Reding, EU Telecoms Commissioner in a statement announcing the review.
So, do you think it will happen? What kind of internet speeds would you want from this broadband? As always, views are welcome.

    Halo Gets an Extension?

I’m sure that most of you will have heard that this week Bungie released a new video, which it describes as a “new Halo campaign experience”. Now, for those of you who haven’t seen the video, here it is:
Gametrailers.com - Halo 3 - Keep It Clean Teaser Trailer.

The trailer shows many pods dropping from the sky over New Mombasa. These pods, which look suspiciously like ODST (Orbital Drop Shock Troopers) are wiped out by an EMP blast, and everything in the city is destroyed. We then see one more pod drop, and at least 2 parachutes are deployed. Now, whilst some are slating this as a completely new game, many now believe that this is indeed a campaign extension however, we will play as ODST’s instead of Chief. This idea really intrigues me as I think it would be great to finally see the game from someone else’s point of view.
What are your views? Do you think that a campaign extension is the right way to go? How long would you want it to last in terms of levels/ hours? And how much would you be willing to pay for it?

    Xbox On Top

After the recent price cuts, the Xbox 360 has once again sold more units than rival Playstation 3 in Japan this week. The Arcade 360 now costs just JPY 19,800 (GBP 102) that’s a £40 price drop, and Microsoft have said they plan to have similar price cuts for both the Premium and Elite versions of the console. This compares favourably to the Nintendo Wii, retailing for JPY 25,000 (GBP 129), and the PlayStation 3 - which sells at JPY 39,800 (GBP 205). However despite the increased sales, the 360 only accounted for 3 games in the top 40 this month. The DS, Wii and PSP all still come above the 360 in sales, but Microsoft will see this breakthrough as a massive boost to confidence, after the console struggled to break into the Japanese market at launch.

    Pick of the week

This week it something to accompany the last pick of the week we had, it’s the Griffin iTrip Auto SmartScan.
Ever found yourself in the car, ready for your road trip, but then you find you can’t play your favourite Tunes from your Ipod because the cassette adaptor has broken? Worry no more, the iTrip has come to rescue.
With the latest SmartScan technology, the iTrip will automatically find you the 3 best radio frequencies, and save them as presets for you. You them simply plug in you ‘Pod, and away you go. All you have to do is plug the iTrip into the cigarette light spot, plug in your iPod and you can be happily listening to yout tunes all day! And I say all day as the iTrip will also charge your iPod while you listen.

This is a must buy for any driver/ iPod owner, I know I’ll be buying one!

    And to end...

    I’m Lost Without You!

A wallet misplaced during a romantic embrace has been returned to its forgetful owner after 55 years. The wallet was found in the back of a classic car by two men who were planning to renovate it. The owner, Mr Glenn Goodlove, said that he probably lost the wallet after it fell out of his pocket when kissing a girl in the 1946 Hudson car whilst on leave from the navy.
And that’s it for this week, hope you enjoyed it, and sorry it’s a bit late!

    Until next time...

Ha great little story at the end, I bet he never expected to get that wallet back 55 years later.

I actually watched that Halo 3 trailer the other day and didn’t really understand what it was about, Interesting to know there could be a campaign extension... I’m not the biggest fan of the Halo 3 story but I would pay around 800 points if it looked to be worth it, depends what’s added and how long it is.
