Microsoft Removing Private Chat From Future Titles

I don't know about the rest of you guys, but what is MS thinking? I sometimes prefer to not have to talk to all of the other idiots that I am playing with. Looks like there may not be a choice in the future though.

Its good and bad really, it’s great to be able to chat to anyone no matter what game there in. Sometimes it is bad when you’re playing a game with people you don’t know and you need to ask them to do something but can’t as there not in the game chat.

Then again as killer says you might just not want to speak to them anyway which I understand ;)

The problem is not so much people not talking in game, but using the chat to there advantage. Heck, even team digiex has before. When someone dies like in Gears, they can view the entire map and see peoples locations, then rely it back to people still playing in the active game.

Bringing it in is a good idea providing:

It only happens in Ranked Games (Unranked its not worth worrying about, its there for fun)
It only effects people in the game, so if I was in a private chat with someone NOT in the game, it should still be allowed as theres no way it can be abused for advantage.

That sounds fair to be honest.

if it is about cheating though they should do what some counter strike servers do and black the screens out for anyone who is not dead and playing from the same ip address.

Anyone who wants to get an advantage like that will, if your signed in to MSN on the 360 it will popup on screen with the persons message without you having to press anything to read it.

Live is full of cheats anyway, it seems to be the cool thing to have a rapid fire controller.

Perhaps they would worry about rapid fire before they do this though perhaps ;)

Just an idea, rapid fire mode in ranked game = Instant profile reset, banned from ranked games in any game for life, console ban and loss of all arcade / xbox live purchases ;)

It’s a bit extreme for cheating but it would certainly cut the numbers!

Some games have been patched to detect rapid fire controllers but I think people easily got around that.

I told him I cant stand he does it, everyone has faults i guess.
No defence for cheating in online games, espically ranked ones, takes the piss out of the whole system.
