A hacker group called The Three Musketeers released the master source code of the PS3.
What this means is that the PS3 will accept any firmware signed with this master source code.

Sony PlayStation 3 Pirated
The popular video game playing box, Sony PlayStation 3 is facing a serious dilemma. A hacker group calling themselves The Three Musketeers, have released the keys which allow compromised consoles to log into PSN, alongside LV0 decryption keys enabling users to bypass future security updates.

This is not the first time Sony PlayStation has been hacked. Once before, its consoles had been compromised, particularly the Psjailbreak dongle and failOverflow. Sony managed to fight back with Firmware 3.60, which allowed them to re-secure their consoles.
The Three Musketeers claim they have had the keys for hacking the play system for quite some time, and had not originally planned to publish them. However, when the code information fell into the hands of another group called BlueDiskCFW, the Chinese based hackers decided they would release the IvO keys for a fee. The Three Musketeers state they “were already done with the Play Station 3″, but they found the plan to release the keys for payment disagreeable.

Sony uses the IvO keys to protect the PlayStation 3 firmware. After 3.60 update, the keys were used to verify the software. Because the IvO keys are built into the CPU cells during manufacturing, it’s unlikely Sony will be able to restore the Play Station with a new update, and with the firmware also decrypted, the new PlayStation authentication key is also vulnerable.

In response, Sony has introduced its 4.30 firmware, which updates the way Trophies are displayed on its games, the way the current level is viewed and how close the player is to the next level. While it announced its 4.30 update October 23rd. it has not yet set a release date for the new software. Sony states that it’s hoping the new software will fix some of its problems, which include blocking the pirating of hackers.

So , the PS3 is now fully hacked & i'm guessing that within a week there is new custom firmware.
