Just out of curiousity, maybe somebody might know, or im just asking a Dumb question? (my mommy always said, "their is no such thing as a dumb question!") But.... Do you think it could be possible that an X box 360 (with 60 gig hdd) could pick up a virus from like a memory stick of some sort, or even a cellphone (connected via USB), im only asking this because the other day, as usual i started my saturday as per normal, got up at about 10 in the morning, my wife was still asleep, went into the lounge to start playing X Box (gears 2), my cousin had been listening to music the night before on my X Box via USB Memory stick so it was still plugged in the X Box, so i put the X box on, but before the start up screen came on, i quickly unplugged the USB, the screen then went blank, my X Box Restarted, but when it came back on, 3 quarters of the ring was RED, and the screen was just blank, i kinda sorta panicked abit, so i just switched it off, unplugged it, plugged it back in and switched it back on, then it was fine, but whenever i put the X box on now, it takes abit longer than usual to start up, and the games take alot longer to read than they did before!! I then checked the USB for virus's on my pc, and it just picked up 1 TROJAN, so i deleted it... So, is it possible that my X Box could have a virus on it?? if so, please let me know if i can get rid of it as my warranty is on the verge of expiring also.....

Not that I know of. When things are played from a USB port they aren't saved onto the console. Also the 360 wouldn't be able to access it as 360's don't boot as windows executable would.

It’s impossible at this time to get a virus on the 360, any game, application or code run on the 360 has to be signed by Microsoft.

Also as Dark Scyth says a windows virus wouldn’t affect an Xbox 360 anyway so I wouldn’t worry at all.

Thanks for the heads up! i kinda thawt you couldnt get a virus on it, as the music isnt being stored on my hdd, but then what would be making my X box slow down abit now all of a sudden?? and what does the 3 quarter red ring mean, i hope it dont mean that my X Box is on its way out....!!!!

Well usually the 3 red lights (commonly known as the 3 red rings if you Google it) means your Xbox is failing.

Its happened to me before randomly, and my 360 has been fine for 2+ years after that *touch wood* could just have been because you yanked the usb drive out when the xbox was booting up.

As for it slowing down I don’t know, are you games a bit scratched maybe?

My gears isnt scratched at all, and that takes the longest to read, but i think it could just be getting a lil bit old, but i suppose thats normal i cant expect it to be as fast as it was at the beginning all the time, i actually want to find out, if there are people here thats already had the dreaded Rrod problem, what could've caused this to happen, was it fixed, and by whome (Microsoft or somebody that just knows how to fix it) i think this would be helpfull for other people, then maybe theirs certain things that they can avoid doing with their x box and so on.....

The RROD is commonly caused by heat. So the best you can do is keep it somewhere well ventilated and out of sunlight and give the xbox breaks now and again.
