Hot Work JazzJackrabbit3D Intrnet Play? *-) How I See: Menu -> New Game -> Multiplay --> Join --> Connect [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ac1TNmaHF9E"]Video[/ame]
Jazz 3D was never released so there is no official internet play. If you have some friends with Jazz 3D its possible for one of you to host a server and for the others to join via a direct IP connection, however as there is no list server no one else on the internet will be able to randomly join.
Would hosting a list server help? If someone would code it I would be able to provide the hosting and sub-domain for it.
Even if you did that JJ3 would not know the IP address of the list server without been patched, so no random people would be able to join any games. Nimrod did code a program that would would allow anyone to connect to a dedicated server running on Digiex a long time ago. As so few people would play it you would be best off with one central server. Maybe if he still has the source code he could modify the program so it connects to a server you are hosting, you could then give the exe to your friends and they could join your server like that. Im sure its possible to join via the console anyway, however its been so long ive forget. The game is not perfect when playing online anyway, it has a lot of bugs from what I remember and you cant change map without re starting the server. Im not really sure what happened to the Jazz Jackrabbit 3 Multiplayer Project, you would have to ask Nimrod as thats about all I know. Here is an old to do list showing some of the bugs and some that were fixed.
I know i saw that on J2O when i asked about this but the launcher does not seem to work. Would i be able to get the source codes of whats needed to get it running? I do have some C# programing experiance.
Best thing to do is message Nimrod. I believe the program was created in Visual Basic, however if you know a bit of C# im sure you will not have any problems with VB.
Sorry for the double post but Nimrod didn't reply to the PM i send him yet :/ I would really like to have the source files of the old project if anyone might have them.
lol np But my question was still not answered. Does anyone have the source files for the MP project? *you could have clicked the thanks key *
If you want to be thanked for simply linking someone to a download you didn't provide you may want to go somewhere else.
