I was bored today and decided to take a look at my local Apple Store in Kingston, it was busy with lots of people purchasing the newly released iPhone 3GS and some random people browsing the internet in the cafe bit at the back of the store. Will taking a look I watched some guy buy an iPhone. First of all, the apple employee on the big 24inch iMac loaded up VMFusion and booted Windows XP! When it was at the desktop Genuine Advantage popped up and he pressed cancel (wonder if they even pay MS for licenses?). He then went through the iPhone ordering system in Internet Explorer 6 in Windows XP on a 24inch mega iMac. He even activated the phone via Windows and registered all the customers details via it. It then came to pay, the customer was handed a small PDA with a chip reader at the top which he used to pay for his phone with, I looked over at the staff side of the device, and it was running Windows Mobile! It made me laugh, after all the "I'm a PC!" adverts they have done where they do nothing but rip into Windows and call it bad, yet they rely on both Windows XP and Windows Mobile to power there retail stores as well as leading iPod (the iPhone). Gotta love Apple, relying on the power of Windows on both the Desktop and there mobile payment system!
That is ironically awesome. Its a little hard to endorse their own product when they don't even use them.
Microsoft do use Macs as well, I got what you’re saying though the amount Apple rip in to Windows with all the adverts, blue screen photo for windows computers and so on its very surprising. Go back, buy one and take a video of the process, after reading the “Cult of Mac” it will be considered normal by the store employees I’m sure!
To get the full potential of computers you need to use both Windows and Mac. Neither device has everything needed.
That is really funny!! That just goes to show who the real Underdogs are, in their adverts they rip Microsoft off, but i've never seen a Microsoft advert ripping Mac off.... Soon enough, we gonna have Mercedes being powered by BMW or vice versa.....
That is one thing I like about Microsoft, they don't really rip into Apple too much. When they do, it is usually very subtle for the most part.
Well I would say windows has 99.9% of the potential but is missing out on the 0.1% which the mac offers. Nothing major.
Can you be more specific Safinn? I've heard people say they like Macs software (Iphoto etc) better than retail software (Photoshop etc) and the look of a Mac to be more appealing. Personally I have never been interested in buying a Mac as I can usually find a better and cheaper PC eslewhere and I'm more acustomed to using Windows.
I think the point was that its way more convenient to do certain things on a Mac then it is on Windows, though that could also be said vise versa.
Yes, thats what Im trying to say. Some things are easier to do on a mac but you can do on both systems.
Well windows lacks the superior memory manager which caches often used programs for instant loading(windows only caches the kernel functions). Windows lacks the brainwashed university student market share too.
Weird, Windows has SuperFetch which does that since Vista. The only way you wouldnt be using a Windows OS with it is if your using an ancient Windows like 2000 or XP
