I have a 5th Gen iPod that I bought from a friend and the warranty is expired. I get no sound from the iPod. The thing is the iPod is clearly defective. You have to press really hard on the bottom right of the iPod and sound will come out for a second or so. So does anyone know if I would have to pay for the repairs since the product is defective. I did some reasearch and found out that this problem is actually common with 5th Gen iPods though Apple wanted to stay hush hush about it. They want me to pay $144.44 which is ridiculous.
I had a problem where I only get sound out of one headphone when I plug it into the iPod and it is not the headphones. I went online and mine was out of warranty too and they wanted me to pay about the same amount, maybe a little more. Unfortunately, I think you may be stuck with it since it is out of warranty, or at least that's what I was told when I called them.
I wasn't sure if so or not. It is a defect that has been known about and I'm sure its the same defect. If they won't fix it I guess I can replace it myself it shouldn't be too hard.
Ya just call and see if they will fix it since it is a known defect. It may be like the 3 red rings on the 360 and Microsoft still fixes those, even if peoples' warranties are expired. If they won't fix it, it wouldn't be too bad to try and fix yourself. The warranty is already up, so what do you have to lose?
