The problem is you are on Dashboard 8955 (XBR3 i'm guessing), the new arcade games require the 9199 dashboard.

You need to update to Freeboot 0.032, this is a hacked 9199 dashboard.

If you have your original nand dump and cpu key you can use BestPigs toolbox to create a new nand for your console.

You can get the tool from BestPig ToolBox - the program supports the English / French languages don't worry.

After you have created your nand just flash it to your 360 with Flash360 (its on Xbins), turn the console off and unplug it for 2 minutes.

Power it back on and you should be on the 9199 dashboard.

I could try and do a more detailed tutorial for that some other time, thats basically what you have to do though.

This makes me kinda upset I literally just had my unit JTAG'd a few days ago and it does not have this 9199 dashboard WHY would my guy OPT for an older dashboard!??

I believe he told me this old XBR protects from xblive updates, so what this new Freeboot does not? I know better any way then to update a JTAG. It sound likes the xbox will have to be opened again (big pain) to be updated?

Is there no way to patch individual games?

    Thanks

    Sean

Freeboot is (edit. not) XBR's new name. You can update to freeboot easily with USB memory.

Freeboot / XBR are created by two different groups (I have no idea who creates / releases them), they are two different projects though.

XBR is obsolete at the moment, however until today FreeBoot was based on the latest public released dash.

I honestly cant think of any good reason why that was put on your console, you need to update to FreeBoot 0.032 to play newer games. This can be done with BestPig ToolBox like i described in the post above, without opening the Xbox 360 again.

Of course if some somehow messed up the update you would have to open the 360 again and flash with LTP or USB.

The both do the same thing so your not really that wrong, people say FreeBoot is better because it keeps more console specific information such as the mac address, I don't know how true this is as I didn't actually get my jtag working until after Freeboot 0.032 was released anyway.

Apparently the file system has changed with the Kinect dashboard so we might not be seeing an updated FreeBoot or XBR for quite some time.

After looking though all the trouble, its doesnt seem to be worth it, from 8955 to 9199 there is only a couple fingers of XBLA games that require it, namely meatboy and sonic 4 epi.1.

Like you said from today forward I will assume future XBLA releases will require the most recent which surpasses 9199, and like you said it could be awhile to see that cracked?

    Thanks again guys

I have XBR as well. Did it myself way back when. I've wanted to upgrade to FreeBoot 9199, but to be honest I'm not sure of the best way to migrate from XBR to FB. Is there an easy migration path?

A lot of arcade games are finished months before been released so not everything will need the latest dash for a while yet, its really up to you if you want to upgrade or not.

If you have your original nand, just follow my new tutorial here: https://digiex.net/computing-sectio...xbox-360-freeboot-0-032-9199-dash-kernal.html
