That's what I thought, but I've made it twice now. Going to try a full format of the drive then create again with a fresh download of the boot creator. If that doesn't work, I'll find another flash drive.

Nothing on the drive to start with... I emptied it before doing this.

    Update:
It was the flash drive... not sure why but most of the space that was taken up is just gone. There is nothing there, not even when I'm showing hidden files. Yet when I format it FAT, it's missing like 1.3G of space.
Used a different flash drive and all went well and as described in the original post.

Question about backing up save data of the old drive...
Can I use a USB Enclosure for that part?

    Thank you, thank you...thank you!!!

I'm not sure if it was just me, but I was not prompted to create the partitions in the 1.30 version of hddhackr. I did it manually and it worked fine.

Thanks again for all of your hard work! It is MUCH appreciated.

Completed successfully. Thanks a lot for the guide.

A couple of nuances I wanted to mention in case anyone else has these issues.

    1) I ran into the "error cannot write data cluster;id 4177526783 is out of range" error as described here: Error With Xplorer 360 Extracting Partition 3 - Scenyx Entertainment Community
This prevented me from using Xplorer360 to back up my 20G drive b/c of it.
Some research pointed me to Xport 360 which allowed me to back up my files. I still used Xplorer360 to put the info back on the new drive.

    2) Not sure if it was just me, or if it is an assumed step or what, but the line that says "Now shutdown windows, disconnect your original 360 drive and connect the hacked 250gb drive." ... When doing that, Xplorer360 would not find it and tell me "no fatx drive found." (which I kind of expected since all we did was install the security sector. I ended up having to enclose my 250G drive and hook it up to my 360 so it could format it first. Then Xplorer360 was able to see it. Not sure if this is always required or not, but it was for me.

That's about it. Booted up my 360 this morning with the new drive, it downloaded an update and done.
    Hopefully that will continue.

Thanks again for the guide and for the help with the USB drive.

I think for the flash programs to work right it has to be the drives listed or and of the same support drives M$ uses and MS only use's sizes 20, 60, 120, 250 I know people have flashed other drives but will only have one of the sizes listed so if you do use a 200 it would only be the 120

Your Toshiba 200gig drive will not work, it has to be one of the Western Digital drives listed in the first page.

Nope, as mentioned above and in the tutorial you have to use one of the Western Digital drives, other drives will not work with Hddhackr.

    hi everyone
    i´m new here..

    so
I have the same HD of this topic( WD2500BEVT) and I have a Laptop.
so I type hddhackr, press enter but nothing happens !
I tried to turn off AHCI, but it doesn´t work anyway

ps: this hd is "old", it worked before, but I deleted many files on Xport360 and since now it doesn´t work. So I´m trying to hack again.

Your device or cd with dos on it already had undo.bin or was not allowed to write to disk or no free space so you got that error.when you undo the drive you need to download it somewhere but its not guaranteed to work.

The thing is that on the usb drive there's no UNDO.bin check it.

From looking at your photo the drive has indeed been hacked, however for some reason it never saved the undo.bin file

If you create the partitions manually it should work fine, in Dos run the command "HDDHACKR C 0960 A0" where 0960 is the port the drive is on.

This port can be seen when loading Hddhackr like so, in my photo its next to drive 5:
