Hi.1st post here so excuse me if this has been answered before.looked around and couldnt find anything, anyway my question is
Ive bought a 120gb hdd for my 360 and want to transfer data from my 20gb hdd.
bought a transfer cable off ebay but it came with a disc that had 360 xplorer on it not the proper transfer disc i was expecting.Im in the process of transfering data via pc but when it comes to partition 3 it seems to be taking hours to load onto pc.
is this normal or am i doing something wrong?

Connect the transfer cable to the Xbox 360, if you check out "Storage" under the settings you will see both hard drives and be able to transfer data from one hard drive to the other directly on the Xbox 360.

Much quicker and easier than using the pc for something like that.

For data transfer, don't we always have to format the media to Xbox 360's type?

Music/Video - No need to format to Xbox 360 but for saves/themes/games/etc it's needed, or am I wrong?

Note: I just use a 2 GB USB Media Card Stick on Xbox 360 (or a 1 GB USB - rarely though).

He has one of those generic ones from ebay, the hard drive will show as a usb device that needs to be formatted.

To make this process faster, use a flash drive and format it for xbox 360 use.Transfer content to the flash drive then to the new hard drive.

Just fill it with what you can to the 8gb then attach the other hard drive, and transfer from 8gb to that hard drive.

Dont format( or configure) any hard drives with that transfer cable

Sounds easy. One last thing by doing it that way does that take over everything?
What I mean is do I have to mess about with any licience or profiles for my live account.

If it is the same xbox than you don't have to mess with license.
