I'm on my modding rampage again (4th console to mod). I was just wondering what would be the easiest way to go about it. Preferably soft-modding. I was going to use Mech Assault to soft mod but its the greatest hits version, so no go there. I don't have Splinter Cell nor 007 either. Are there any others ways to go about this?

To softmod Xbox's for family and friends I used 007 Agent Under Fire and Krayzie 007 UXE Installer 2.8

The hardest bit for you will be getting a save on to a memory card, as I already had a modded Xbox I just FTP'ed the savegame to that Xbox and copied it to the memory card like that. You would most likley need to buy an action reply unless you have a friend with a modded Xbox.

Once you have the hacked save on the memory card its basically a case loading the save and following a few on screen instructions.

You can also just do it with a PC and the Xbox hard drive, although the end result is the same a lot more work is required.

See: How to softmod your Xbox and install XBMC for free - boards.ie

Ive gotta go and get ready for an exam but ill explain more later if needed.

I just have a question about the Primary IDE Cable as i'm not exactly sure which one that'd be, would that be the main hard drive cable? Not exactly sure I can do that with my laptop and with how many problems its been having, opening the laptop will probably disconnect the cable for my touchpad again, not something I want to try and fix again. I have a Toshiba Satellite L355D-S7901 (model) for technical jibber jabber.

    Good luck on your exam.

The primary IDE connection is usually the blue IDE connection on new motherboards, if you look closeley most motherboards will probably have a label saying which is which.

However your laptop takes a SATA hard drive, SATA is the sucessor to IDE so your pretty much out of luck for the harddrive softmod, its very unlikely your laptop will also have an IDE connection.

From looking at the American eBay ive found the Action Replay memory card which lets you download / upload saves to it: XBOX Action Replay MAX FREE 8MB MEMORY CARD Brand NEW - eBay (item 270579637015 end time May-22-10 19:17:37 PDT)

Its $27.50 though which is almost $20 more than a normal memory card.

That memory card should be perfect for getting a hacked save for the game of your choice on to the Xbox's hard drive, then its a case of getting a copy of an exploitable games such as Agent Under Fire, Splinter cell or Mechwarrior, loading the save and installing the exploit.

If you just got a normal memory card I would offer to put the exploit of your choice on it, however to post it to the UK and back to America would probably end up costing a lot more than just buying the Action Reply from eBay.

Ive attached the readme from the 007 exploit I use, it should explain how everything is done, if you dont understand any of it just ask. The process should be similar for which ever game you use.

Forget buying action replay. You can save money here, those connectors on the front of an xbox, they're USB! You can easily convert to a USB connector, so if you have a spare xbox connector and USB cable, you can splice them together(the colours match). You then modify the action replay driver file, adding in the hardware ID for your flash dongle, format the flash dongle in your xbox, then copy the save over with action replay, then from the flash dongle to your xbox, and continue like normal.

If you don't like splicing, you can get them pre-made: BRAND NEW - PC USB to Xbox Converter Adaptor Cable UK! on eBid United Kingdom
