    Hi InsaneNutter, Thanks for your time and help, the PSP has suddenly booted properly, it seems to be working ok. i think at this point I will give it back to it's owner (my nephew) and suggest it might be time to get it serviced and cleaned.

    Thanks for your quick response Yes I tried turning it fully off/on and again without the memory card each time it gives me the same screen and sinking feeling. It wouldn't be so bad if i could select any of the options on the recovery menu but it's stuck on >Back without being able to go >Back

    HI InsaneNutter I followed your guide to install the cfw 6.60 pro C2 it all went well until i tried use the flasher to make it permanent - now i am stuck with the PRO Recovery Menu if i try to scroll down to select something it just springs back up to the " >Back " line and i can't get anything...
