hey guys i joined this forum to download title updates for xbox 360:P
my consolen is banned and it wont be until next month i get a transfer kit.

so my question is can i use a external hardrive on the 360 instead of the official one?
so i can then connect the xternal HD to my pc and instal TU with xplorer 360? on my pc?

if not can i remove my official xbox 360 hardrive and connect to my pc and update that way? please let me know thanks.

You can't use a external Hard drive to store 360 title updates, you can use a flash drive that is up to 16GB. If you do use a flash drive to install title updates then you'll need to download USBXTAFGUI v31 to inject the updates into the flash drive.

but i was told i can use an external hardrive to save games, so then i thought instead of using transfer kit i can connect the same hardrive to pc and use the xplorer 360 same way? and look for the files i want to replace? then connect the same HD to xbox 360 and games will be updated.

i dont have a usb stick but if i need one then i may as well get a transsfer kit.

i need a temp solution until i buy a transfer kit thanks.

The only way you could possibly use an external hard drive to save games is by having a Jtag console. Honestly it would probably be better just to buy a flash drive as you can get 8GB flash drives for $20 or so then use USBXTAFGUI when wanting to transport stuff, which is more convenient then needing to take out the hard drive multiple times.

There are certain 2.5" drives that you can format to work for 360 though that would replace your original 360 drive if you did that, meaning you have to take the original drive out of the case and replacing it with the new drive.

Any flash drive 1GB and over should work, though I would recommend 2GB and up.

There is a guide for transferring title updates here.

so your 100% sure it will work and i wont need a transfer kit or anything?
if so i will buy one 2gb usb flash disc today.

also before i use the guide do i need to have my games saved in the usb stick or do i transfer files from hardrive to usb via dashboard?

I know you can put title updates on a flash drive and they will work from the flash drive though i'm not exactly sure if you can transfer title updates to the HDD. At the moment I can't use my Hard drive as I get an error when I try though whenever I play a game and download an update it does download it to the Flash Drive so I can play games while still being on XBL. So I don't think you can transfer update to the hard drive. If you download the updates put them on the flash drive and leave the flash drive in the console it should still apply the patches from the flash drive, you'd just need to have the flash drive in every time you would want to play a game.
