    HELP!!

I plugged in my 250Gb hard drive into my Xbox 360 using the USB transfer cable, and it formatted it so it shows up as 16GB!! My Xbox now does not recognize the drive when I plug it in directly, so I cannot reformat it as a 250Gb storage device

It is an official Microsoft hard drive. Using a PC and the transfer cable I can see the drive as a 232Gb storage device.

Is there some way I can reformat the drive for use with my Xbox 360 again?

By the way, I have used hddhackr before while making a few WD drives Xbox360 compatible. I am familiar with that process. I tried running hddhackr on the drive, but since the drive is official Microsoft, hddhackr does not see it as Western Digital. Firmware replacement does not work, but the partitioning seems to work, but crashes.

It seems that all that needs to be done is formatting the drive as FATX, and then getting the proper partitioning done so the Xbox 360 can see the drive again. Does anyone know of a tool or know how this can be done? Are there secret commands in HDDHACKR i could use to accomplish this?

    Thanks in advance!

if you hook it up to the PC and just do a format to FAT32 to wipe the drive, you should then be able to pop it into the 360 and just format it to the 250GB. If just formatting it does work, put a bunch of files onto the drive (copy and paste something over and over) Then when it's full put it into the 360, it should say unformatted, then that should work.

    No dice...didn't work

I formatted the drive FAT32, filled it up completely, and the Xbox still didn't recognize it.

I did reconnect it through usb and reinitialized it again, and it does show as 16Gb free.

I think something may be wrong with the MBR....or something else. The XBOX doesn't recognize it at a deeper level.

    Any other ideas?

Connect it with the USB transfer to your xbox 360 , then format it again on the xbox 360 . See if that works .

Do you have a slim 360 or fat ?
Take the hdd to another 360 & format it there , maybe the current 360 is the problem ?

I have two XBOX fats. I was struck with an idea: get an image from a good 250Gb HDD and then copy the image to the other bad 250Gb HDDusing xplorer360. I dont really care whether the imaged data is accepted by the XBOX...I just want to make sure the other 250Gb drive gets back to xbox-readable condition so I can format it.

I will keep y'all posted. If you have any other ideas, please let me know.

The imaging didn't work either. Xplorer 360 just kept restoring for 24+ hours. My 250Gb drive is still not recognizable.

    any other thoughts or ideas?

Well. In my case I had hard drive issues that caused me to not be able to use it. But what I did with my 20GB literally just minutes ago is whenever I plugged it into my 360 I got a E68 error which caused it to be unusable. I hooked it up into my PC and used a Windows 7 disc to boot the PC (as I had to use my primary Hard Drive cables for my 20GB). Anyways It said it was an unformatted device in the PC, so I decided to just install windows 7 onto it to make it NTFS at least. After it finished installing the OS, I plugged it into my 360 and went to Memory Devices which it told me "Unformatted Device" I then used my 360 to format it which it did format it to the standard 20GB hard drive for 360. So you may want to try to format it to NTFS and then try a format.

This topic is kinda old but to go with it. Can somebody upload a 250gb Slim Segate Harddrive image for Xbox Commander, thanks... btw if you compress it its only a very small file due to the zeros :) Cheers
