Hey everyone. So im a complete noob when it comes to Xbox(or anything technical really ) Got my xbox couple year ago,,and the ex jtagged it,didnt know what it ment or that it would need updating. So its been left lying up for near a year.Fired it up yesterday, with the intention of just using it for movies and not to update, but the movies or the games wouldnt work, so went about updating it as i dont know anyone else that does jtag, here is what i did and what happening.hope someone can help

I loaded Flash360 to dump the nand.
    Then used Easyfreebooth12611
checked the "use donar file" box(as the ex kept the original nand so i dont have that)
    Typed in the Cpu Key
Checked Falcon as motherboard and create image
I then put the updflash bin file on usb
Loaded Flash360 again and pressed A to write updflash.bin to nand
and then "B" to Raw flash without keeping current Kv/Config

    then this came up
    READING KEYVAULT FROM NAND
    READING KEYVAULT FROM FILE
    COMPARING KEYVAULTS...

WARNING: KEYVAULT ENCRYPTED DATA CHECK MISMATCH
FLASHING WITH INCORRECT/INVALID KEYVAULT IS BAD

PRESS START TO IGNORE AND CONTINUE
ANY OTHER BUTTON TO RETURN TO MAIN MENU

read online someone with similar issue and he was told to ignore and continue and it worked for him,so i did too.Everything seemed to work fine but i turned the xbox back on and the fan was making a really loud noise and it wouldnt come on the TV or controllers will not sync.

I put the updflash.bin on Usb and loaded into xeLL, looked like it had worked,it said finished, remapped blocks found.processing block 000003ff of00000400.update complete.please remove the update and power cycle. Turned the xbox back on and still no joy :(:(

like i said earlier im noobier than noob.Everything thing i done above was just following online instruction,i still dont understand what any of it meant!!
Just to add not sure if any of it helps but just to give all the info i know,i have the CPU key and DVD key.i dont have the original nand or KV.The place where i read to do the above wasnt a proper tut but more of a discussion and it didnt say to save or backup anything so i didnt think to do so, so all i have is the updflash.bin and flashd.bin.I can get into XeLL through Av cables but thats all i can do.The dash is 8955,,and its a falcon.

hopefully all this makes more sence to you guys than it does me :D

I know it was a long read and thanks for your patience, any help would be really really appreciated, the more simplified the better ;)

From what you say i *think* you have all the stuff required to fix your console, hopefully with ease.
You say that "I loaded Flash360 to dump the nand" i presume you still have this dump that you made of your working nand?

Your going to need this dump you made, and the cpu key.

If you have the nand and cpu key you have all you need to follow my tutorial here: Easily update your Jtagged or RGH Xbox 360 to Kernel / Dashboard 14699 with XeBuild

Start at: 3. Setting XeBuild up and building your new nand as you have done everything before that.

When you get to: 4. Flashing the new nand to the Xbox 360 you obviously cant do that as your console you obviously cant do that, however as you know you can plug the av cables in, power the console on with the eject button and load Xell. Do that and flash the nand you made from following my tutorial, all been well the console should then work, and be updated.

Hi insane nutter thanks for the reply. Yes i think i have the dump i made , its called flashdmp.bin?.
Also not sure if this matters at all but the two bin files i have(flashdmp.bin and updflash) both come up with a vlc player as their icon and and as type it say they are "VLC media file(.bin)"

I have gotten as far as the command prompt part and it has come up saying

Image type not provided defaulting to build a retail image
    **** could not read smc_config.bin <-1>****
******ERROR critical bootloader files missing cannot proceed
****** FATAL BUILD ERROR: -1 unable to complete NAND image

flashdmp.bin will be the file you dumped, you can also right click and check the date / time on each file. Your dumped nand will be older than the one you created after.

What parameters did you type in to command prompt to get that error?

Presuming you have a Falcon Jtag you want to type this:

    xeBuild.exe -t jtag -c falcon -f 14699 -d mydata updflash.bin

And did you put your flashdmp.bin in the mydata folder and rename it to nanddump.bin like the tutorial explains?

InsaneNutter's tutorial is making xeBuild read the data out your dumped nand (that you know works on your 360) so it can create a working updated image with the correct configuration for your console, without you needing to know how it was originally created.

Hi Masterchief thanks for your reply:). As you suggested i had in fact used the updflash.bin.Got all excited and Redone it all again using the flashmp.bin but it had similar out come as above this time say
****WARNING could not find a non zero CF LDV to use, setting it to 1 but that may be incorrect
    **** could not read smc_config.bin <-1>
**** Error critical bootloader files missing, cannot proceed
****FATAL BUILD ERROR: -1 cannot complete NAND image

I double checked everything a few times over to make sure i typed everything correctly

Did you enter the CPU key in the text file correctly? and copy the data needed to build your new nand correctly as explained in the tutorial?

If so download 360 Flash Tool 0.79

You will need to add your consoles CPU key when asked, try and open your nand dump in there, i have a feeling it might be corrupt.
