    Hello

I have dash 2.0.14699.0 I would like to update to the latest as I'm planning on getting a kinect for the wife and from the research I've done I need to update my dash again. I've read a few guides on here but one was out of date and the other one looked to be recent but would it be ok to jump from 14699 to the newest? Thanks

These tuts'll work for 12611 too, right? I've managed to find an old JTAG here, but I don't want to screw it up like my other one, so I really need a guide for an absolute idiot!

Yes i went from 12611 to 14699 then to 16197 with no probs using the exact methods explained in the tutorials posted here.
If you do what i mentioned for DeeSeven you should be ok.

Sorry, just to clarify, do I have to go to 14699 first or can I go straight to 16197? Ta.

    Nope i updated to 12611 in Fall 2010, 14699 in Fall 2011 and 16197 in Fall 2012.

Dump your current nand and go directly to 16197.

thanks for the info insanenutter. I've updated my dash sucessfully do 16197 now correct me if I'm wrong but in order to get the kinect to work I'll need to apply the avatar/kinect update via a FAT32 formatted usb stick?

Thanks for all your help and tutorials

alright I have an issue but your forum won't let me reply cause it says I'm posting links but I don't have any links in my post?

EDIT: I put the update folder on my jump drive and my 360 won't recognize the update at all. I tried renaming the folder 2 both "working" names

This is the proper system update to restore the avatars i guess? if so is the USB drive FAT32 formatted?

I'm now updated to 16197, but I'm still getting "System Update Required" for Sonic All-Stars Racing Transformed. Did I miss something?

Am I right in thinking I need to run the official update now and I won't revert back to stock by doing so? I've been trying to do it, but th $SystemUpdate isn't loading, even though I'm using the back USB port and the folder's in the root.

The game is likely looking for the Kinect / Avatar data as you do have the latest update.

If you are on the 16197 dash you can use the official 16197 update, that will just install the kinect / avatar data. NEVER use an official update that is newer than the dash your jtag is running.

Ensure the USB stick is FAT32 formatted, the 360 will not read NTFS. You might have to power the 360 off, and power it back on again with the USB stick in for it to pick the update up.

If you have dashlaunch installed you need to rename the update folder to $$ystemUpdate as dash launch will stop you running system updates by default, to protect you from accidently killing your Jtag.

Thanks. I temporarily disabled the setting for it in Dashlaunch and re-enabled it after. Worked a treat! Thanks for all your help!

You only have to update your Xbox if you are trying to play a game that requires the newer Dashboard Version.
