Just keep trying, i recently upgraded to 5.5.1 and got the same. If you have the files on the SD card you have done everything right.

Mine worked perfectly for ages, I then had to try 15 times and it worked again and has kept working since.

The exploit is kinda un reliable as you can see, but usually when it has worked once it will keep working almost 1st time every time in my experience.

Thanks. Now that I know that's what is supposed to happen I'll keep trying. Is it 5.5.1 that takes so many tries? I was on 5.5.0 but had to go to 5.5.1 to get my free MK8 DLC stuff.

Nope 5.3.2 was extremely unreliable, i think it took me around an hour and a half to get that to launch for the very first time. After that it launched almost fist time, every time for me.

I know someone on this forum who got it to launch first time on 5.5.1, so it really is luck. In general keep trying and you will get there.

After 3 more hours of trying today I am sure I am doing something wrong. All I need on my sd card is wiiu-homebrew-starter-pack-2.zip. I just extract that to my fat32 formatted sd card and I don't need to put anything else on it?

That's all you need, the "wiiu" folder should be in the root of the SD card.

Try visiting some websites on the Wii U browser to fill the cache up a bit, exit out of the browser, load system settings, then exit out of that. That will cause your browser cache to save.

Then load the browser again and try exploit it.

After another 3 hours it finally worked for me. Tried a game to see if it worked but I was a little tired after all that trying so just played about 10 minutes and shut it off. Tried again and after another hour it hasn't worked yet. But at least I did get it going once. Thanks :)

Least you know your doing it right, it does seem strange your having so much trouble launching it after the first time though. That is dedication you put in to getting it going! :)

Another day of not getting it going. If I wasn't watching tv while I was trying this I'd be going crazy by now.

Finally got it again. Tried it again after that and gave up trying after 32 tries. No idea why it takes so many tries for me. :(

I have tried multiple of times and all I get is a black screen every time and I end up having to hard reset my Wii U . Is this still working? And if so do I just need to keep doing it? I've blocked all the sites and I feel like I have done everything right. Some help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I have updated the Homebrew Starter Pack to V3: Download Wii U Homebrew Channel Starter Pack V3

All apps are the are the latest version available with full 5.5.1 support as of 16th October 2016.

Some apps below will only work on 5.5.1 such as IOSU OTP, at this point in time you should update to 5.5.1 if you have not already done so, their is now no reason to be on a lower firmware version. Updating to 5.5.1 in the future might be difficult once Nintendo releases a new update, so I would advise you do this now. I am on 5.5.1 and all the homebrew apps below work perfectly fine.

    • App Store - A Homebrew App Store for the Wii U, where additional homebrew apps can be downloaded and existing Wii U homebrew apps updated
    • Asturoids - An Asteroids homebrew game for the Wii U
    • DDD - Wii U Title Dumper
    • Flappy Bird - A Flappy Bird clone for the Wii U
    • FTPiiu - Wii U FTP Server
    • Hid To Vpad - Emulates the Wii U gamepad input using various USB HID devices, such as a GameCube, Wii U Pro Controller, PS3 controller and so on
    • Homebrew Launcher - Loads all the other homebrew applications in this list
    • IOSU OTP (5.5.1 only) - Allows you to obtain your Wii U's unique OPT via an IOSU exploit, this could be useful in the future for Custom Firmware or better hacks than we currently have. (Photograph your TV to save this, and do not share with anyone else).
    • Loadiine GX2 - Allows you to load out of region games, along with modded game files.
    • NNU Patcher - Allows you to start the Nintendo eShop on an older firmware, if you have your firmware spoofed to the latest firmware available.
    • Our Loader - Allows you to load games discs from other regions (Region free game loader)
    • Saviine - dumps and injects savegames of any title that is entered over network to a PC application.
    • Snake - Clone of the classic Nokia snake game on the Wii U
    • Space Game V2 Beta - Space shooter game for the Wii U
    • U Paint - You can paint using the Wii U's touch screen gamepad
    • Wup Installer - installs public titles such as game updates, can also spoof your firmware to the latest version

You can now use the Wii U Homebrew App store to update any of the apps above directly from the Wii U, an even download additional homebrew apps as they become available.

Is this something that I need to do or just something that may make something easier for me in the future if I do?

At this moment in time no, if you are on 5.5.1 you are fine and can obtain your OPT at any time. Just never update past 5.5.1 if such an update is ever released by Nintendo, as it will be almost guaranteed to patch all the exploits currently in the wild for the Wii U.

It wouldn't hurt to obtain your OTP, however I imagine at some point an app to simply dump this to a file, rather than display it on screen will be released. Think of it as more a proof of concept at the moment, showing it's possible to obtain the OTP and exploit IOSU, which is required to hopefully have custom firmware in the future.

In the future you will likely need the OTP to setup a custom firmware, hopefully doing away with having to exploit the Wii U through the web browser. It's been demonstrated the Wii U can boot in to custom firmware when powered on, however never released to the public.

I have done your steps, but when I go to wiiu.insanenutter.com my Wii U locks up every time.

    Ideas?

Note: My firmware is v5.5.1 U

All i can suggest is see the other suggestions in this thread, the exploit is un-reliable sadly, so just keep trying.
