Today, November 7, 2018 Gears of war 2 , which came out on Xbox 360, turned 10 years old. Some days it is concidered my favorite game of all time. This is crazy news to me. Well without notice All Gears of War 2 DLC is free rightnow on the marketplace And on another note, NXE dashboard will be ten years old on the 19th I cant believe this
I remember Gears of War 2 leaking a few weeks before the game was released, lets just say quite a few Digiex members who had pre-ordered the game ended up modding their consoles and finishing the game weeks before it was released (yes we all kept our pre-orders and played it legit on Xbox Live once released). Thats crazy someone was able to leak a AAA game like that "weeks" early, younger me would have had his mind blown!
Games leaking several weeks early actually became a bit of a thing on the 360, if it was a major AAA game it was almost guaranteed to leak before release. Halo Reach leaked 3 weeks early Every Gears of War game leaked early, a fully playable development copy of Gears 3 leaked in June 2011, the game wasn't released until September 2011... interestingly enough that build of Gears 3 contained two finished multiplayer maps which were cut and released as DLC the following year. Various Call of Duty games leaked several weeks early too Crackdown 2 leaked quite a bit before release. Then theirs all the stuff from Partnernet which leaked once Jtag consoles became a thing, including unannounced games at the time: Unannounced XBLA games and screenshots leaked, including Crazy Taxi and Quake Arena The 360 scene was a bit crazy in that respect, things have certainly changed with this generation of consoles.
I already had my original 360 modded by then, but remember playing the game early that way. Some time after GoW2 was released my console red-ringed though. Good memories!
