Hello everyone! I have an old xbox 360 rgh and I'm giving it to my 6 year old cousin for christmas. I have factory reset it to defaults so the "hacked" dashboard doesn't appear, it seems to be original and unhacked. It runs the 17150 and im afraid it wont be playing games thay came out after 2014 that this version was realesed. So im trying to update it to the latest dashboard version. Is that possible by using the official method Microsoft suggests? I mean downloading the file from the official servers and installing it from a usb drive.
No if you do that it will brick the console. It should be fine providing he doesn't try connect it to Xbox Live. (You could enter DNS settings that dont exist to stop this) or use Dash Launch. I can't see it needing a newer dash version for anything at this point.
If you have DashLaunch installed and set to ignore the required dash version the vast majority of games should still work regardless. I can't promise you every game will work, however most should do. You can always take the time to update later if required for a certain game.
