Data shows up fine in the guide. But searching for any of the shows by title etc, brings up nothing in the search results...

I'll have to see if that happens on our Media Center, the search functionality is not something i generally use, we have a couple of regular shows on record and that's about it.

You might well be better asking the EPG Collector guys if this is a known bug on how the data is imported in to MCE: https://sourceforge.net/p/epgcollector/discussion/1125945

Hi this worked a treat, so many thanks to your great guide.
I just wanted to ask a question on if it is possible to get the first aired information on shows over the air grabbing?
Or do i need to subscribe to a certain xml grabber site and if so which ones provide this?
    Thanks.

Hello, I have registered on this forum, which I found via a web search, specifically to express my appreciation of the very clear and easy to follow guide that you have posted to enable me to obtain UK Freeview HD listings. I have used WMC ever since it first appeared. Each time there is an OS update on my Win10_64 bit setup the first thing that I try is WMC to see if it still works. So far, the work arounds available elsewhere on the web have allowed this to work flawlessly in Windows 10. Like many others, I have never understood why MS "dropped" this class leading product but I am still using other MS products successfully that MS dropped long ago, including "Money" and "Autoroute". Without the efforts and generously given time of people such as yourselves, my computing life would be a lot more mundane. I am too old to learn the skills required to create these solutions myself so like to give credit where it is due and once, again, offer a huge "thank you".

@ChrisJohn great to know this also works on a Windows 10 install which has been modified to work with Media Center. I've always been disappointed Media Center was never included with Windows 10.

my WMC program guide has been functioning perfectly (Crystal Palace transmitter) but when I opened WMC today a pop up notification appeared stating WMC support would be ending in Jan 2020 and the TV channel updates would no longer work. I do have a Plex Pass but have to say that my experiences using Plex as a DVR have been poor, tv recordings suffer from interlacing artifacts, buffering is a continual problem when watching live tv, even doing something simple like changing the channel takes forever. Bottom line is WMC on my Windows 7 PC, even at the end of it's life, it still outperforms Plex DVR across the board. So I'll continue with WMC until it becomes absolutely unusable. I'm so happy to have found this fix for the Windows Media Center TV Guide, I haven't tried it yet because my guide updates are still working but I've bookmarked this thread for when they stop. Thanks for your work, well done!

After January 14, 2020 Microsoft will no longer provide security updates or support for Windows 7, so I suspect that's when guide data will no longer update.

Does this mean even this fix here stops working?

It will work fine and probably be one of the only ways to get guide data from that point forward.

Does this work for US based ATSC/Clear QAM? I follow the instructions to set Custom parameters and see DVB cable/ATSC/Clear QAM, select channel with frequency, run the collection but end up with Exit Code 15!

I presume it should do if an OTA EPG is broadcasted as EPG collector looks to support this. I'm in the UK so it's difficult for me to try help you with this unfortunately.

Have you downloaded the latest version of EPG Collector though? https://sourceforge.net/projects/epgcollector/

If so it might well be worth requesting help on their Sourceforge page and uploading your log files there.

What’s the difference between EPG centre and EPG collector? I used EPG centre and right at the beginning, don’t see your Tuning of DVB Terrestial. Instead I have DVB Cable/ATSC/Clear QAM. I selected the channels in ATSC and Clear QAM which has the channels and frequencies but scanning doesn’t give anything but exit code 15!

I followed the instructions and got everything to work but I don’t see how to load it on WMC other than 1 selection that says “import to WMC”?
My about Guide shows Rovi as provider?
How do I link the new guide listings from Zap2it over?

If you follow the section of the tutorial: "How To Map Guide Data To Channels on Windows Media Center" do you see listings from EPG Collector to map to your existing channels?

No I didn’t see the EPG collector channels, only the existing ROVI channels. I did a WMC set up again and guide has disappeared?

Here’s the outputs, is this correct?
Looking at it again, I can see that I don't have the same options as the instructions. How do I make the output to WMC?

Maybe you are not actually obtaining any OTA guide data?

Can you confirm anything is been collected / imported?

I removed the XML Output and rerun the EPG collector and I can see the same result you showed, except I can see lots of gaps in my results?
My Guide is still showing the existing ROVI guide, no extra channels to edit.

If you click on a channel in the section your in on the 3rd screenshot, for example KTVN HDTV-CBS. You should be able to change the guide data to that provided by EPG Collector.

For the gaps increase the time here from 600 to 1200 and see if that helps:
