Hello all, I recently downgraded my 360 to 9199 and for some reason doing so has completely broken original xbox game compatibility. Whenever I try to start an original xbox game, it goes to the white original xbox screen and stays there forever. I have tried to rebuild the original xbox partition multiple times, both using a pc and the XEX file on the console itself. Ive tried multiple compatibility folders, with only one yielding different results. In that case, rather than the console freezing, it would load for a minute then crash saying that the game wasnt compatible with my software version. Before the downgrade it worked perfectly. All the games I am playing are natively compatible and being played off the official disc
Maybe have some backwards compatibility files which are too new for the dash you are now on. You could try download the image of Partition 2 here: https://digiex.net/threads/xbox-360-partition-2-download-xbox-1-emulator.4897/ and restore that to your hard drive. That would have actually been dumped around the time 9199 was the current dashboard, so might work ok. It could also be to do with the DVD drive firmware getting flashed on more recent dashboards, that could have broken something on 9199 as you could never normally have newer drive firmware on this old dashboard.
Thats a good thought on the DVD drive, I didnt think of that. Can I fix that or am I out of luck? the partition 2 file unfortunately didnt work
Maybe if you flashed the old LT+ 2.0 firmware to the drive people used to play burned games back in the day. That would have been current around 2010 when 9199 was the latest dash, long before the DVD drives got updated to support XGD3 games. Do normal 360 games work out of curiosity?
yup, everything else is perfect. It'll play cds, dvd movies, and 360 games without a hitch. Its just original xbox games.
