Google I/O is an exciting time for members of the Android development community. Earlier today at the conference attendees who were given a GSM Galaxy Nexus were treated to an OTA (Over The Air) update to Google’s latest Android firmware, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Thanks to XDA Forum Member PTzero, conference attendees are not the only ones who can access this release. PTzero went ahead and posted it online for everyone to enjoy. With this initial release, it’s only a matter of time before the source code for Jelly Bean is published and custom ROM’s begin appearing. This is for “Takju” equipped GSM devices, and has not yet been confirmed to be functioning on “Yakju” devices. However, XDA do not believe there to be hardware differences between the devices. Sadly, my android is still on something like 2.1 and i only bought it last year. Never had any updates for it, since i bought it like it.
Do you have an LG Optimus GT540? (seen you mention that in a past thread of mine) If so then there look to be a pretty good build of Android 4.0.4 over at XDA Developers: Project IceCreamSwift - Android 4.0.4 base on CyanogenMod 9 with 2.6.35.10 kernel - xda-developers Might be worth rooting your phone and getting it updated!
most probably (unless I turn back on to 360) I am getting a Galaxy S III within a week or two. Nutter, are you on XDA developers forum ? I am a complete noob to Android. But what I will do first is to have the official fw upgrade to remove the crackling sound when earphones attached. I heard siyah kernel is quite good to root. The only dilemma is what colour to choose- that blacky blue or the white one...can't decide.
Yes i'm on XDA Developers, i have been since i got my HTC Desire in 2010. Go for the blacky blue one, it looks great to me When you root you want to look at flashing a stock rom, the Android 4 look is so much nicer than the touchwiz interface Samsung put on there phone in my opinion.
I do agree, android gurus say the touchwiz started to look aged for a while. BTW snapdragon S4 punched all other kinds a tight fist. I actually do not know whether or not the combined Adreno 320 GPU is more powerful than Mali 400MP GPU. Another impressive thing is the size of Asphalt 3d 7- a whopping 1.36 GB. It is bigger than PC's NFS UG 2.
