Anyone into real-life "IRL gaming" arenas? Just found something interesting in Brisbane.

    Hey everyone, new here

Been lurking on Digiex for a while, mostly for the retro gaming threads, but figured I'd actually post something for once.

Random one, but does anyone else find themselves drawn to real-life versions of video game mechanics? Not VR, more like physical spaces that react like a game would. I stumbled onto one of these near me in Brisbane recently, an indoor arena with rooms that light up and respond to movement, kind of like if a rhythm game and a laser tag arena had a baby. Genuinely didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did as an adult, not just something built for kids.

It got me thinking about how much crossover there is between classic arcade design and this new wave of "physical gaming" spaces. Reaction-based mechanics, scoring systems, that instant feedback loop you get from old-school games, just translated into a real room instead of a screen.

Curious if anyone here has tried similar setups elsewhere, whether it's laser arenas, interactive escape rooms, or anything blending gaming mechanics with physical movement. Feels like a growing trend and I'd love recommendations if there's anything worth checking out in other cities too.

Anyway, glad to be part of the community. Looking forward to digging through the classic gaming threads more.
