We have all come in late at night at some point and switched on the TV and watched a movie that was so bad and cheesey it was actually kind of good.

well this thread will hopefully give you the chance to list some of the worst offenders ;)

    here's my list:

    1. Flash Gordon IMDB
    2. kull the Conqueror IMDB
    3. Simbad and the eye of the tiger IMDB
    4. Jack the giant killer IMDB

all of these are fodder for mystery science theatre 3000 if i ever saw them.

    you guts have a list?

The only film that I can think of at the moment that would fit this thread would be The Mutant Chronicles. You should probably look into it if you like cheesy action/sci-fi type films at all. I also noticed that most of the films you listed are fairly old so I was wondering if you had come across any recent ones at all?

Chain Reaction was on TV a little while ago, that was a waste of two hours.
EDIT: Sorry I completely missed the point of this thread, I thought we were listing bad movies!

Well yes and and no. We are listing the cheesey movies that are so crap, you kind of like them. To answer your question Rustwick the only one I can think of are the underworld films.

I think most films made by Sylvester Stalone can be put into this thread but the films I can think of from him that are the most cheesy (yet I found still good and entertaining) would be Judge Dredd and Demolition man. Perhaps it's because at the time they looked good but now the acting and effects seem cheesy to me. Perhaps I was more impressionable when I was younger :D

Agreed. I love those two movies, and I love Wesley Snipes as well, so Demolition Man was perfect for me.

theres a chessy john carpenter movie from the late '80s called "They Live".
it stars a pro wrestler-turned-actor named Rowdy Roddy Piper. the premise revolves around a recessed US economy, where the wealth gap between the rich and the poor becomes so big that there were only filthy rich people and very poor people, no regular folks.

understanding that, there seemed to be an intermittent underground uprisising of some sort, but no one undestood what the uprising was about, so there wasnt any attention payed to it.

through a chain of events, Roddy comes accross a pair of sunglasses that the rebels were trying to hide. when he wears the sungalsses, he sees that all advertisements are subliminal messages. for instance, a billboard advertisement with a picture of a beatiful woman to the naked eye, just says the message "BREED AND BE COMPLACENT" with the sunglasses, and the pages of all the magizines said "CONSUME" or "OBEY".

the transistion between sunglasses and naked eye is incredibly well done, better than most effects today (and john carpenter is known for his chessiness) the movie has an interesting orwellian story to it and i highly recomend it.

its also full of fantastic chessy one-liners. for instance:

"I'm here to kick ass and chew bubble gum... and I'm all out of bubble gum".

Easy there my friend easy. You are correct though, it was an amazing film as was the second one. I have not seen the third one yet either but it looked very good.

The Toxic Avenger. It wasn't a good movie but with the old effects that it had it was a poor attempt to make it creepy/scary so it made me laugh a lot, therefore it was good in the opposite way intended.

Yeah I do agree with that one, Crank 2 is so bad its actually good at times. I really loved the first one but the second one was a bit too stupid even for me. It had its moments tho.

This weekend i was forced to watch a really old movie, i've obviously seen the movie before, but i watched the movie when still very young, not knowing that special fx, and graphix will evolve alot over the year's..... So for me, the best old, cheesy, yet entertaining movie has to be, Back to the Future 2.... Imagine their has to be a remake of all 3 Back to the Future movies...
