id Software Now Owned By Bethesda Softworks ZeniMaz Media Inc, the parent company of Bethesda Softworks, announced today that they have completed their acquisition of id Software. id is best known for its Doom, Quake, and Wolfenstein. Bethesda will now publish games made by id. id is still going to work as a studio under the direction of John Carmack. Long-term contracts have been signed, so everything will operate as it did before. Carmack had this to say about the deal: "This puts id Software in a wonderful position going forward...We will now be able to grow and extend all of our franchises under one roof, leveraging our capabilities across multiple teams while enabling forward looking research to be done in the service of all of them. We will be bigger and stronger, as we recruit the best talent to help us build the landmark games of the future. As trite as it may be for me to say that I am extremely pleased and excited about this deal, I am." Everyone at Bethesda and id seem to be happy about this deal and see the future as being very successful for both parties.
Holy hell, batman! This could be a marriage made in heaven (or Dooms Hell ) that could lead to some awesome games.
I think this merger is going to be very fruitful for both companies in the long run. Both made some awesome games and can't wait to see what they produce in the future.
I hear through the grapevine that Doom 4 is in the works. I think that it would be quite the horrorfest with the lighting effect power of the 360.
That was my one complaint about Doom 3, it was way too dark! Although there was a flashlight mod for the pc version which made it a lot easier to see what you were doing.
I would beat them with a flashlight, I found it humorous for some reason. I would like a game with the looks and the feel of Doom and a little bit of Fallout 3 in the mix.
