In case you were wondering -- yes, there will be another Call of Duty this holiday season. And believe it or not, Activision thinks it looks incredible. Speaking at the Wedbush Morgan Securities annual meeting (via Kotaku), Acitivision Chief Financial Officer Thomas Tippl said, "Last year we had probably beaten most expert expectations by growing the Call of Duty franchise over the tremendous success that was the first iteration of Modern Warfare. For 2009, Modern Warfare is coming back, we expect it will be the most anticipated game of the year. Perhaps the number one game of the year despite the fact that it's only going to launch in the holiday season."

"There is no doubt in my mind that it will again raise the bar for the shooter genre.The game is looking incredible and Infinity Ward, the studio that is developing it, is just doing an unbelievable job."

With Call of Duty having ascended to the status of top tier franchise over the past couple years, Tippl might not be far wrong in that assessment. What do you think?

Although I'm sure everyone knew this already.

I hope this one will be better (duh) then the first one, CoD4 single player was quite nice, the Multiplayer is one of the most ridiculous things I have ever played. You can put a half clip of your ammo into them and they shoot you twice and you die. Can someone tell me why this happens? (No my connection is not slow)

it happens to me , 2 shots with a m4 carbine and there dead it's to easy to kill people , but i hope the new 1 is alot better than the 1st 1

Even still being the way it is with everyone converting to CoD:WaW, when ever I play Free-For-All I don't lose for some reason anyone I face says they are only around lvl 30's. I am a 54 1st prestige complete (and most likely last prestige).

id rather play halo tbh , coz the game play is alot better and there is alot more stuff to do , but i never got cod: WaW because i got told by loads of people that it was rubbish so i have no idea what the gameplay is like on that game lol

LMAO Halo better, that was a good one. Well as long as your just playing a custom game then I guess. If your playing Ranked games then don't expect people to die in halo from a shot to the head, although the same thing can be said for CoD4, when I see the killcam and I get shot in the leg and its like HEAD SHOT!!! I just say WTF? As far as CoD:WaW its acctually not too bad. The campaign isn't too bad 'cept for the tons of glitches that I had. There were about 10 Japanese soldiers just running into a small pile and one shot killed 5 and I got an achievement.

I quite liked CoD:WaW; it just felt lacking, it just didn't really compare to the epic-ness of getting nuked, then crawling around all blown up and shit.

Modern Warfare 2 has a lot to live up too, generally because Modern Warfare (1?) was.... perfect. I hate to say it, but I can't think of anything that is wrong with it; IGN and Gamespot both say that the only thing that this wrong with it, is that the story is too short... it's a good 7-8 hours (double that for veteran because it's impossible lol), and most FPS's have a very quick story, if people want a massive story, go play Tales of Symphonia!
