My Giga-Byte motherboard failed on 3 occasions to hack the drive.
so i pulled out an older laptop an Acer Extensa 5230 and this hacked the drive no problem.

My old Dell Dimension 4600 (BIOS Rev A12) works great. There is NO SATA ATA/AHCI mode setting option in the bios, so don't have to worry about it swapping back and forth between Win and DOS. Boots fine off a Thumbdrive.

I've always used VIA 6421 chipset SATA cards for flashing and for HDDhacker. Definitely compatible.

The SATA Configuration needs to be set to IDE in the BIOS Settings.

    Sata 1 4 = IDE
    Sata 5 6 = IDE
