The original is from when the console was a new, non-jtaged console. This console has never had XRB on it.

And did you upgraded Dashboard to 7371 before start to read first nand?
What is your MFD of console? Mine MFD is 04.03.2009 and was Dashboard version 7363 (section 6BL & 7BL Patch 1)

BTW: I saw a movie on Youtube:

Take a look at 2min55s, why he has there 12611 and we have anything? where are differences? strange....

have you other dumped nands? with xbr/freebot from your console? if yes, you have to use it to extract smc.bin from them, kv.bin and smc_config.bin are ok from original.
if your xbox can not boot or has E79, you must to upload xellous/free60 (only 2MB) by lpt, and then power on and insert usb-stick with prepared updflash.bin.

Please folks, this makes my brain hurt every time I see it. It's "kernel" or "colonel". The world "kernal" does not exist in the english language, and I'm pretty sure if it does exist in another language, it doesn't mean the core software, or center of a fruit.

In this case, since no armed forces officers are involved, the proper term is kernel. Please save my brain (as well as others') from the terrors of gross misnomers and miswordings.

I have corrected that type-o for you ;) spelling is not my strong point but I do the best i can with a spell checker.

Can you boot Xellious? if not you will need to re flash your nand by USB or lpt unfortunately.

nope, can't boot into xell. In which case I reflash back to the original dump or can I use my 360 fladh backup? After that, can I use my 360 flash backup file with this to get to 12611? Sorry, I'm such a noob.

Use your working backup of XBR / Freeboot to create a hacked 12611 nand. You will have to flash it over USB or LPT though if you can not boot Xell.

Has your console got a DVD drive?

In fbBuild_0.1\bin there is a file called freeboot_alt.bin

If your console has no DVD drive you need to rename this to freeboot.bin and make your 12611 nand again, then flash it.

I believe you will get stuck at Xell after flashing without a DVD drive from what I read over at Xbox Scene.

This is the first time updating my jtag'd 360 (arcade Falcon 16 MB NAND) and since you mentioned it's better to use your current Freeboot NAND, I tried to get it with Flash360. Everytime I dump the NAND though, I keep getting the same error:
ERROR: Reading block 38 status 258
Can I just continue with the tutorial or do I need to do something else?
