According to the BBC, Venezuela has banned stations from showing Family guy. Justice Minister Tareck El Aissami says the show should be banned because it promotes the use of marijuana. It also started when the character Brian started a campaign to legalize cannabis.

How ever this is apparently not the first time a cartoon has caused trouble in Venezuela. The Simpsons was deemed unsuitable for children after officials decided it flouted regulations prohibiting "messages that go against the whole education of boys, girls and adolescents".

yet to Avoid a fine the station played Baywatch instead of Family guy.

is it me or is it taking things too far.

If the show was aimed at little kids I could understand, it’s not though so I don’t see any reason to ban it. I could think of more offensive programs on tv too.

I just don't get it. It's not promoting the the use of cannabis. Its mocking it or at the least commenting on it.

I mean some of the stuff that South park has come out with has offended people but they are still yet to pull it off the air. Its even in its 13th series

Them there Venezualans are taking things WAY too far... South Park for example, way, WAY worse than "The Simpsons" and "Family Guy" combined! I guess its just a strict country then...

Bearing in mind that different cultures have differing views to these sorts of things. But cancelling an episode of The Simpsons for Baywatch does come across as hypocritical to the point they were making in the first place.

The Clevand Show actually looks pretty funny. I have been catching up on American Dad at the moment. Love that show :).

The first episode was quite good, the second was very boring… I watched Family Guy right after and realised just how bad it was in comparison.

I will see if it improves this week.

American Dad is great though (Y)

Hmm, banning a TV show that clearly says that its not for children. Well if we want to go off of that logic, M rated videogames are now banned since that also clearly says it not for children.

well i for one wish they would ban it in the UK .. Cant stand it myself , far too many american orientated jokes and references for me .. my kids laugh at a joke about a US tv presenter or politician .. and they have no idea whats going on
Rubbish if you ask me ..
But american dad is funny so is that other one .. erm martin dds or something, both have some reference i dont get but mostly ok
