    The story so far,

Bought the car about 5 years ago and everything worked fine including Bluetooth streaming (which is the cause of the current situation), I used to quite happily be driving along and then decide to stream music from my phone hit the AUX button and away it would go. Then my battery died a few days ago, I took it to have the battery changed and straight after I went to stream my music, hit hte AUX button and "Line in" came up, when I hit the device button the option were USB, IPOD, and Line in or 3.5 jack no option for Bluetooth streaming. However the bluetooth calling worked fine ! Even when I plugged my phone in through the USB port and tried to use ipod it wouldn't play the music through the car speakers but it would show what track was playing on the head unit. I tried to follow various advice online about pulling fuses and resetting it but do you think I could find the fuse diagram for the fusebox that is under my glovebox......no, it certainly isnt the one Ford say it is in their online manual dload.

So............. I thought I would disconnect the battery, "Please enter code" .......urgh do you think we have the code, no ! So, many calls to Ford and even a visit and they asked for an M or V number from the stereo unit. I managed to get the facia off and there was no such number, luckily I found another forum online which once I gave the serial number over someone came back within minutes with the correct code. So I powered her up but still no joy with the bluetooth streaming which is when I came here.

I installed the new firmware without any issues but sadly it still will not play my music from my iPhone X over bluetooth, it will however now play music through the ipod function through the car speakers. However the facia will now not go back on, whatever I do it keeps popping off over the top hazard lights button and it certainly is not even close to being flush around the AC button or any of the heater dials :(

I am about 15 minutes from taking an axe to the bloody thing so if anyone has any suggestions ................

    PLEASE HELP !

    Thanks

Worked great on my 2011 S-Max! THANKS!
Before upgrade some USB-sticks was "unsupported device", now they all work :)
(Would be nice if AAC-support was added, as it is superior to MP3...)

    Hi all,

    I have a 2011 Ford S-Max with the 6000CD audio system (pictured here: https://i.ebayimg.com/images/i/323119370252-0-1/s-l1000.jpg).

I am able to answer, make and have telephone conversations via bluetooth, however, I am not able to play music over bluetooth. I have spent MONTHS looking for solutions and bought a few parts that turned out to not be what was needed to solve my problem. This is driving me nuts.

Will this update fix my bluetooth issue and allow me to play music from my phone, over bluetooth to my audio system?

The orignal poster compiled a list of compatible cars (shown below) but my S-Max doesnt appear in that list. Can I still use the update and the steps detailed in this post to fix my issue?

    Thanks.

    Hi guys,
I own a 2009 ford fiesta titanium and when I try to update the software it displays an error message "update failed, please try again" (or something like that tbh I don't know the exact translation. I've read that a few guys were having trouble with format and USB 3.0, but mine is FAT32 and USB 2.0 as far as I know. Any solutions here?
The thing is that, I can't stream spotify or any kind of music via Bluetooth.

    Hi guys!

Ive got a Ford NX big satnav from 2008.07
By default it was unable to handle USB (no USB socket at armrest)
But later it was retrofitted with every cable, modules. So the new BT module in the glovebox is also new (2011)

Ive got a 2015 SATnav disc in it. I guess it has the latest SW also.

Ive tried to upload this update. Reslt: It says, no Update needed, so yes, my system is up to date.
BUT!!! I am unable to use BT stream. its not there. Ipod, USB, LIne In. all i have. CAnt even force it from my BT sender device to somehow stream the music.

Any idea wht the hell is missing?

    Hi,
Thank you for your excellent guide!
I've applied the update to my 2010 S-Max Titanium, with the Travelpilot NX.
All went well, took around 15 minutes.
I now get phone signal strength in the bottom left of the display, but I'm still unable to stream music from my phone (Pixel 3xl). There's no Bluetooth option in the Aux menu, just the normal iPod, USB, Line In options.
Do I need to enable it somewhere? Maybe in ELMConfig?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
I created an account because of this. I have an issue with my 2012 Focus mk3. Bear in mind that I bought the car used so I don't know how many phones were connected previously. When I go to the Phone menu, it says that there are no devices bonded (which is normal since i never connected one), and I can see the Ford Audio on my phone's bluetooth menu. When i try to connect, the car says that there are too many devices bonded and that I need to debond some, which is odd because there were no phones bonded. When i click Unbond, it searches for devices to unbond, but at some point it just gives up and returns to the radio menu like nothing happended. So basically, there are no bonded phones, but when i try to bond it tells me that there are, but when i try to debond, there are none again. This is the only solution I have left, the thing is my car is from May 2012, so I'm kinda scared that this is gonna mess it up. The audio system is pretty basic, which is why I'm thinking this might work, I think my system doesn't have Ford sync, it looks older. Anyone know if this will work on my car? If this update is not meant for my car, will it know it's not and not run it? Thanks

An update on my situation, that might help people in the future. Turns out the production date of my car was 2011 (May 2012 is the registry), so if you have a Focus mk3, with the old audio system (not Sync, the screen with 2 buttons to the right to set hours and minutes) you can use this update. I had some issues, like I tried with two different USB sticks, both formatted to FAT32, and the car wouldn't recognise them, it would say "USB device not supported", but then I tried a third drive, also formatted to FAT32 and it worked, the car could read it, it said that there were no files or something like that, and after turning the ignition, it started updating. Odd part was that this new USB drive was 3.0 and from what I've been reading everybody advises to use a 2.0, but both my 2.0 drives didn't work, but my 3.0 did, so if one can't be recognised just try other ones. Just be sure to format it to FAT32 and to name it, don't leave it without name or with the default (some people reported that naming the drive solved their issue). So yeah, everything's working perfectly now.

    Hi all. New poster here.

First, i would like to thank the OP (Howard), for the clear instructions and links posted back in 2014, and Digiex for maintaining the site, as well as everyone else who posted a related issue with the firmware update.

I found the process straightforward but not without a fair share of obstacles. My experiences with the Mondeo blue tooth Audio firmware update are documented below.

I am lucky to be the relatively new, (third owner) of a 2009/2010 Mondeo XR5 Turbo. Wanting to know more about the vehicle I stumbled upon the firmware update, recalls, trouble shooting and other valuable nuggets of information so unselfishly shared to make it easier for others in their problem solving.

I am happy to say that i have followed the intructions posted by Howard, and tried no less than 5 different usb sticks, micros sd cards and anything I could use with a card reader/usb adaptor.
    Needless to say..none worked.

After reading that if all else fails - 'use a Sandiks thumbdrive', it just so happens that I could not find my Sandisk 16gb flash drive...yes, the one that I put away in a safe place.......

Fortunately, I am a raspberry pi and odroid enthusiast, so the tools i needed were acquired for raspberry pi and odroid purposes.

My last option was using an EMMC storage card, an EMMC adaptor and a card reader. I would advise against this method if you need to go out and buy the tools needed - it would be easier to purchase a thumbdrive. For those in small board computers like raspberry pi, odroid etc - most would have the tools an would be familiar with their use. EMMC adaptor and EMMC card.JPG micro-sd card reader.JPG EMMC adaptor and EMMC card.JPG

For those not familiar with EMMC, a quick read is available at the link below:

    https://www.enterprisestorageforum.com/hardware/emmc-storage/

The steps I used are documented below in the hope some one will find it helpfiul when all else fails.

Tools needed: an EMMC card, EMMC adaptor board, micro sd card/usb reader, SD card formatter software (free download)

Follow the steps in order listed below:
    1) Use any EMMC card - I had a 16gb and an 8gb card, I decided the 8gb card had adequate space to store the 21 files unzipped from the Ford folder.
    2) Since an EMMC card cannot be used with a standard pc or laptop computer, a suitable adaptor board is required to which the EMMC card needs to to be attached.
3)After firmly attaching the EMMC card to the appropriate adaptor board, insert the adaptor board in a micro-sd card reader.
4)connect the board to a USB port on your laptop or pc
    5) I used a free software download called Sd card fomatter to format the EMMC card. To avoid any issues i chose a full format - when format is completed confirmation of the card's Fat32 status will pop up.
    7) Safely eect the card from your computer or laptop.
    8) Take the EMMC card - still connected to the sd card reader and with its usb connector and follow the steps provided by Howard on the first page of this forum.......

Initially the Media files could not be read and a "no tracks on device'" will appear, but after turning on the ignition -without starting the engine, the update promplty proceeded. EMMC cards are highly efficient and the update didnt take 10 minutes!

I have attached pics of the tools I used, I hope someone finds this useful.

    Good luck.

    HI All,

With apologies for resurrecting this thread, I've an issue following installation of the November 2012 update (on Ford Fiesta Titanium 2010) which I seriously hope someone can help with:

When I connect my iPhone (XR) to the car either by AUX USB cable or Bluetooth, the car automatically starts playing the music which is on the phone, whereas I actually don't want that (unless I choose it myself) but want to use the phone for google maps and have the voice commands come through the car speakers.

Neither car nor phone seem to have any "disable autoplay" settings, but surely there must be a solution for something so annoying and so simple?

Are there maybe subsequent updates which could be installed which address this?

Many thanks in advance for any help!

Do I need another head unit or what?

Firstly, my thanks to Howard for this guide. I was wondering if anyone else on here is able to help on perhaps where I'm going wrong on getting bluetooth music streaming on my 2009 Focus?

    So far I've:
    • swapped out the bluetooth module from the original 8M5T-19G488-AM to a 8M5T-19C112-AT from a Fiesta.
    • used Howard's guide to successfully update the firmware/ software of the Ford 6000CD audio head unit (Visteon 8M5T-18C815-AB single CD KW2000) - it's the one with the single CD player and AUX button as per the photo
    • used ELMCONFIG to change the SRM settings to BT/VC High and set to a Focus.
Unfortunately, despite the radio being able to read & install "Howard's files" from a USB connection to the back of the bluetooth module, it doesn't see mp3 files that are on the USB stick, nor does bluetooth music streaming work. Both an iPhone and an Android phone see the Ford Audio, and shows as connected and putting music to it, nothing comes out.

My last step to try is buying some of the connection cables mentioned on some of the other forums, but this doesn't make sense to me. I'm sending the music to the bluetooth module, it's presumably receiving the music as the phones show up as connected, yet it still doesn't produce the music.

    Any suggestions welcome.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

Net nieuw hier.

    Alvast bedankt

    Hello everyone,
Just came on here to say how crazy this is!
I followed the steps and the download took around 20 minutes and bluetooth + usb playback instantly worked!
I had tried taking the fuse in and out, got a new fuse, resetting the centre console, disconnecting the engine - everything!!
This was the only solution and I am honestly amazed and so grateful.
If you’re having any troubles with bluetooth do this!
This worked on a 2009 Ford Fiesta Titanium
