Does anyone remember Habbo Hotel? it was quite popular with teenagers here in the UK back in the early 2000's. Back then broadband was only just becoming a thing in some areas, so most people had dialup internet, with MSN Messenger been the most popular way to communicate with people online. Social media didn't exist back then, their was no MySapce, Facebook or even YouTube yet. Internet Explorer was the most used web browser in the world. Anyway I was sorting though some old files and found some screenshots of Habbo Hotel rooms myself @Nimrod @Trebor @Rustwick Seven, Nexz and i believe Funkyrabbit made on the UK version of Habbo. Most screenshots are from 2003 to early 2004, although i do remember playing Habbo much earlier than that. This was our main lounge of the "Insane Nutters HQ", with teleporters to each persons room. I seem to remember we had a message system using the sticky notes on the wall: Nimrod had very fond memories of the queen mother, so we had some photos on wall: This was our bar which could be accessed from the main lounge: This was my bedroom, or "crib" as it was called back then. It appears I was a Disolving Toe Nail Specialist too, i guess everyone needed a hobby right?! It appears for some reason we had decided to change the room about, i believe this was to stop people who entered the room from been able to access other peoples private rooms and mess with stuff: It would appear we got bored and had a little dance: Sevens attempt at re arranging the main lobby: Pro Habbo players planned room changes in MS Paint The 1024x768 screen resolution that was pretty much standard back then made multitasking more difficult then it is today, however we were likely discussing Habbo related matters on a group MSN chat. Playing GameCube games over the internet using Warp Pipe was pretty cool back then, the Warp Pipe icon on the desktop reminded me I used to do that!
Nice screenshots! I still play Habbo in the spanish community (habbo.es) Thanks for sharing your pics, I'd like to see more like these!
If i had anymore to share i'd post them up, i know we had some great rooms in our little group. Has Habbo changed much then? from what i can gather all the regional English speaking variants of it have been merged in to one hotel it seems, with inactive accounts been deleted soon after that. I would register a new account to have a look, but i think it would spoil any memories of it at this point.
Yes, I think in 2010 Habbo decided to merge every English speaking hotels in one. Also, few days ago, they fired a lot of staff members of every hotel and now there is a new automatic moderation system. If you take a look, don't be scared, everything has changed a lot haha
