Check the region of a game, or console?
For games you can usually look them up online, e.g. Play-Asia or ABGX. For a console unless its Jtag or RGH hacked (region does not matter then) if you really have no idea the only way to tell would be to put a game in locked to a certain region, for example PAL and see if it plays.
