As compensation for the patch that's never coming

Konami is reportedly offering compensation to Xbox 360 owners who can prove they purchased Silent Hill HD Collection for Microsoft's console.
See, a few days ago, the company released a title update for the bundle on PS3, but stated the patch had been canceled for Xbox 360 for undisclosed reasons. People were plenty mad about it.

Well, not everyone was going to take this sitting down, and one consumer actually contacted Konami customer service over the issue. Turns out, raising enough of a stink will get you compensation in the form of a free game, provided you can prove you own it. You'll have to pick from a list of games they provide, and while the roster isn't all that impressive, you're not limited to an Xbox title.

Interestingly, Konami hasn't made any official announcements regarding this, so anyone looking for compensation will need to take the initiative. Here's a recount of Punisher138's customer service experience, plus a full list of games you can choose from:

Konami announced yesterday that they will not be releasing any further patches for the xbox 360 version of the Silent Hill HD collection.

For those of you who are like me and purchased the Xbox 360 version of the Silent Hill HD Collection NEW and still have a receipt to prove it, if you send an email to customersupport@kde-us.com expressing your displeasure about the lack of further patches, you will be presented with a list of select games to choose a free copy from. The list is below. While not a great selection, its still better than nothing.

If game companies were more about quality than quantity, i.e, releasing the game in its complete production than incomplete nothing of this or patches would be needed.

I don't have this game but if I had to choose from the list it'd be Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker.

I take it big game companies such as Konami don't get the one free patch that MS allows Arcade games such as Fez etc? Serves them right to be honest, they shouldn't release bugged games but I guess every company does it now so that makes it OK (hence why MS probably charges for companies to patch their games). Perhaps Knoami thinks the game isn't worth patching but now that people know about the situation I can see them changing their tune at some point ;)

Lol becasue the PS3 one is fixed now? I downloaded that patch and all I have noticed is the game's framerate isn't unlocked anymore but locked at 30fps. It STILL slows down all the time though. And all the sound effects that the creatures make at specific moments are STILL all wrong. You know what the strange thing is, the game was a bad port because "it was taken from an unfinished version of the game". So you're telling me there was no final version of the PC or original Xbox version either. That's a helluva coincidence that they lost all final code versions of the game.
