I received an email that says i need to send more info(ssn, photo id,& proof of address) to paypal. I don't see why it's necessary after having an account for more than 2 years.
Has anyone received this on paypal before?
You have __ days to resolve before your account becomes restricted.

Are you sure the email is real? log in to Paypal from the Paypal website and not any link from that email and see if they are still asking you for the info.

The only things i have ever had to do for PayPal is confirm my address.

Yes. When I login on paypal.com the page shows this.
PayPal is constantly working to ensure security by regularly screening the accounts in our system. We recently reviewed your account, and we need more information to help us provide you with secure service. We would like to return your account to regular standing as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience.
What is the problem?
Sep, 2012: We need a little bit more information about you to help confirm your identity.
How can I return my account to regular standing?

It's usually pretty easy to take care of things like this. Most of the time, we just need a little more information about your account or latest transactions.
To help us resolve this issue, please go to the Resolution Center.
We'll review the information you provide and email you if we need more details.
Once you complete all of the checklist items, your case will be reviewed by one of our Account Specialists. We will send you an email with the outcome of the review.

Looks legit then, maybe they are changing policies or something? it does seem a little excessive however.

Have you ever had to provide any information to Paypal in the past?

I've had my Paypal account for a long time, its linked to my bank account so money will just instantly be taken out when i pay for something. I also had to verify the my land line number and the address i lived at. I have never been asked for a photo id or anything by Palpal however.

Also never been asked for ID like that by PayPal though I did get an e-mail from them saying they were changing a few things.... Perhaps their rolling out new security measures or something. If it affects me I'll probably end up not using PayPal, can't remember the last time I used it for something in a while now. Owning a credit card has it's uses :)

This is the first time they asked for information. You would think after many successful transactions on ebay and other online vendors they wouldn't bother people with this.
I tried address verification and received this lol. I don't have any other bills to upload, oh well.
Information Received-Not Accepted please resubmit Reason: Wrong document
I can always use paypal guest for some purchases.
